Becoming a dog owner has taught me a lot. It's frustrating, fun, and in the mean time you gain a best friend. While owning a dog, you begin to notice some things, adorable and annoying. This is a short list of the things that only dog owners would understand.
1.When the doorbell rings on the tv it's probably the most annoying thing. You'd think they'd figure it out after a while. Why can they not tell the differece between the television doorbell and the REAL doorbell. It makes absolutely no sense to me.
2. You NEVER have the bed to yourself. I have a beagle that takes up the entire bed. She is less than half the size of me and somehow in the middle of the night I end up hanging half way off the bed.
3. When you step in a puddle with socks on, you hope it's water. This happens the most during the puppy stage but we all know that our puppies have some accidents.
4. Dropping food isn't an issue. I swear, it is like before I can even bend down to pick up the food I dropped my dog is scarfing it down. Then what is even worse, she begs me for more food and it's not like I can tell her no. I mean she is so dang cute!
5. Dog hair is a part of your wardrobe. I'm not really sure why I still buy black clothing. Well actually anything other than white becuase nothing in the dark spectrum of the color wheel is safe. I'm pretty sure my dog sheds enough to make another dog.
6. Your dog is the best at keeping your darkest secrets. Sometimes, I only think it is because I feed her everyday.
7. Every time you come home they're just as happy to see you as the last time you came home. Is it just my dog or does everyone else's dog act like you have been gone for a month striaght every time you come home? Can't say I mind it though. It's the cutest thing how excited my dog gets every time I walk in. I could have had the worst day and that automatically makes me feel better.
8. They are the best cuddlers. Although they sometimes take up the whole bed, they never complain that you take all the blankets, that you're snoring, or that you move too much. Where I move, my dog adjust so I am still comfy. She always wants to be right next to me. I think she believes she can't get close enough to me.
9. Talking in high pitched voices is obviously the only way they'll understand you. I really hope I'm not the only one that thinks this or it'll just be an embarrassing confession. For you pet parents that haven't tried this, I promise it works. It isn't just for babies.
10. They are there for you when no one else is. I've had my dog for four years now and I honestly can't imagine life without her. She's been there for me through breakups, stressful times, and just when I needed a cuddle buddy. So yeah, I may be a crazy pet parent but who cares? My sweet pup deserves it.
