10 Things Makeup Lovers Want You To Know

If you think I'm trying to fool you with my full face of makeup, you're sadly mistaken.

Instead of running my mouth, I'm just going to cut right to the chase. Here are 10 things that makeup lovers (or at least this makeup lover) want you to know.

1. This isn't for you.

First and foremost, I'm not wearing all of this makeup for you or for anybody else. I did not spend 30 minutes creating a masterpiece on my face for you. I did it for me because I like the way it looks and I enjoy creating the final product.

2. I don't have "too much" makeup on.

"Too much" is subjective because it is not a quantitative amount of makeup. Just because my eyeliner is a little more dramatic today does not mean you should be making snarky comments about my excessive use of makeup. Also, if you know anything about eyeliner, it is not easy to correct mistakes. So if I screw up, there's no turning back. I have no choice but to have some crazy dramatic eyeliner that day.

3. I am not trying to fool anyone.

If you think that I wake up and naturally have smokey eyes, winged eyeliner, and a fully contoured face with minimal blemishes, I sincerely do not know how to help you.

4. Primer is your best friend.

Face primer and eyelid primer saves lives. Everyone has wrinkles and creases in their face and primers prevent your makeup from caking up in those areas. Primers also help your foundation stay put for longer and give your skin a smoother finish. Eyelid primer has saved my life. Greasy eyelids with caked up eye shadow are sinful. Even an inexpensive drug store eyelid primer will make your eye shadow go on so much better and it will last so much longer.

5. Setting spray is also your friend.

Why would you spend so much time and money for your work to melt off your face in an hour? Get a setting spray. Urban Decay's All Nighter setting spray is amazing, but if you don't want to spend $30, NYX also makes some pretty worthy setting sprays.

6. There is no such thing as a quick Sephora trip.

Sephora is makeup heaven. If you intend on going into Sephora with a makeup lover, make sure to block out at least an hour for it. Also, expect us to swatch at least 30 lipsticks and fawn over every single eye shadow palette that we want. Most importantly, let us blab about the products we love and the products we want to try even if you do not care in the slightest. Let us have our moment.

7. I don't discriminate against your drugstore makeup.

We use drugstore makeup too. It's good stuff. Often times, there are drugstore dupes for most high-end makeup products. I don't care that you only have a tube of Maybelline mascara in your makeup bag and you only use it on special occasions. I don't think less of you. However, if you want to branch out and experiment with more makeup, I am more than happy to help you!

8. Lipstick goes with everything.

That groutfit you're wearing to your morning class... red lipstick. Make a statement. Who cares?

9. I apologize if I hug you and my foundation gets all over your clothes.

Setting spray isn't fool-proof. It happens. Foundation transfers from face to clothing and it definitely looks better on the face than it does on the clothes. Sorry.

10. I'm not insanely insecure about my physical appearance because I wear makeup.

I like the way makeup makes me look and feel, so I wear it. Everyone has insecurities and I just so happen to use makeup to distract from certain insecurities. Everyone has coping mechanisms.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
