10 Things I'll Miss About Loyola This Year

Four years ago, everyone I've ever met told me that college would be "the best four years of my life" and to enjoy it because it was going to "fly by." While freshman year crawled by, I continued to refuse to believe that these next years would "fly by" like everybody had said. Having graduated, all I can say now is that the best four years of my life really did fly by. Here are ten of the many things I'm going to miss about Loyola this year:

1. Humanities Porch

: Maybe people won't miss my basic Loyola instagrams with a Starbucks cup and a view of the quad, but I definitely will.

2. The Starbucks Ladies

: because not hearing "whatchu want girlfriend?" every morning is going to be depressing.

3. Not paying for a gym membership

: paying for a gym membership means you actually have to go to workout, not just go to socialize at the FAC.

4. Running into everyone I know on my way to class

: as annoying as it would be to have to go through a non-stop series of hellos and awkward waves across campus, not seeing those familiar faces on a daily basis won't be the same.

5. And knowing every single person at any bar I go to (RIP Craig's)

: realizing there's more to life than York Road and Fed Hill <

6. Rally

: not going to miss the new drink ticket rule, but definitely going to miss Loyola's version of Christmas.

7. Lacrosse Games

: and the fact that Chik-fil-A sponsored Loyola.

8. FOOD

: even though I complained about Boulder and Iggy's more than anything else, I'll miss everywhere I used to eat when Loyola's food was inedible (Bond Street, Miss Shirley's, Petra, Stokos, Pizza Mart).

9. Living with my best friends

: as much as sharing bathrooms and confined spaces got old after a while, I'd give anything to do it all over again. AND realizing I'm not living in a mile radius from all of my other friends is going to be brutal.

10. Being in college

: because those were ~the best years of my life~

Being Invisible The Best Super Power

The best superpower ever? Being invisible of course. Imagine just being able to go from seen to unseen on a dime. Who wouldn't want to have the opportunity to be invisible? Superman and Batman have nothing on being invisible with their superhero abilities. Here are some things that you could do while being invisible, because being invisible can benefit your social life too.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
