As a girl who often wears a lot of makeup, I tend to hear the same comments over and over again without pause. It can get a little tiring, or maybe even a little humorous if you count each and every time someone says one of these things listed below. My girls who love makeup, this one is for you.

1.But you don’t need makeup

I know I don’t need makeup, but people don’t really need a lot of things. It doesn’t mean they’re not nice to have. We don’t actually need tv’s, we can live without them, but we enjoy having them around.

2. Why do you wear so much?

This one is simple. I wear so much because I want to. I enjoy going through every step of the makeup process, and by the time I’m done you’ll be able to see my highlight from miles away.

3. That’s not your shade

Yeah, I know but there’s nothing wrong with playing around with a lipstick that doesn't have the right undertone.

4. Or similarly, why would you pick that color?

It’s blue. I’m aware. Maybe you aren’t a fan of funky colors, but it’s always nice to have a fun pop of color in your collection.

5. That’s false advertising

Can you see my eye roll? At this point, you should be able to hear it. This is one of the comments that annoys me the most. A quote from twitter said, “Makeup is false advertising!" Oh that's funny. Because I'm not a product. And I'm not trying to sell myself to you.” (http://bit.ly/2DfVA4p)

6. You’re prettier without it

That’s sweet, with initial intentions. However, if this makes me more comfortable in my skin then it can’t be a bad thing. I think I look good both ways.

7. You wear wayyy too much

I know, I know. But makeup is an art of self- expression. Getting to play around with different looks every day is pretty great.

8. You’ll never get a man

If I wore my makeup with the sole purpose of getting a man, well… I might need to reevaluate just a little bit. The man I date should love me the way I am, with or without makeup.

9. That stuff is so bad for your skin

Everyone says makeup causes acne, and in some cases, it can. If you make sure to use products that are designated for your skin type, as well as take off all your makeup at the end of the day, and wash your face you’ll be in good shape.

10. Don’t buy any more makeup

Please. As if that’s going to stop me. My collection is ever expanding and sometimes, I run out of a product I really enjoyed so I’m going to repurchase it.

So to all my girls and guys out there who love to wear makeup, but keep getting negative comments like these, just make light of it and have fun (and maybe roll your eyes if you need to). Go out there with your blinding highlight and kick ass.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
