10 Things A Daddy's Girl Can't Deny

Some times when you're a daddy's girl, you can't deny somethings about who you are.

Being a daddy's girl means so many things to me, and I can never thank my father enough for helping raise me and showing me the world I live in. These are 10 things I can't deny from being a daddy's girl.

1) Fixing things became my favorite past time.

Ever since I was little, I used to watch over my daddy when he started his handy work--fixing things in the kitchen, building and assembling some furniture. I was there bent over with him, pretending like I knew what I was doing.

Wrenches, screwdriver, drill bits, wiring--nothing in handy work is foreign to me. And, if I do come across something unfamiliar, he somehow knows what I'm missing or needs to fix.

2) Pigging out will always be okay.

Whenever I stayed over dad's house that meant FOOD, FOOD, FOOD, FOOD, FOOD, FOOD. I like to think my love for eating was instilled in me by my father. Either it was Chinese take-out, an order to Domino's, or going to the supermarket for ingredients and making his banging Lasagna. Often times just having a chill night making sandwiches up the wazzoo was the greatest bonding time with my dad. We also kicked it with a T.V. show or a movie. I guess from this, no matter what date I go on, having JUST a salad will never be in me.

3) I'll always play with the boys.

Whenever I fell and I felt the tears in my eyes cause I banged my knee, my dad would hold my chin up and tell me "Don't cry, you're fine, you got this, wipe up, shake it off". Failing and settling will never be in my vocabulary. I will always play with the big guns and I will always challenge myself when I feel limitations creeping behind me.

4) I will always have a protector.

One day I will have a husband and my father will walk me down the aisle. But no matter who my new boyfriend, husband or friends are, no one will ever have my back than the love and strength of a father like my dad does. Make me cry, be sure my father will have you on his list.

5) I'm corny AF.

My father is a hell of a jokester and fortunately, that rubbed off on me. My dad loves bad jokes because somehow the badder they are the funnier it is for him. We played pranks so much with each other when I was younger and now I just appreciate the simplest jokes that make my day just a little bit better. I also garnered a talent for puns... I am very punny.

6) I will always have him to vent to about not believing what Becky did to John that messed with Stacy and I can't even.

Ever since coming into college, my dad has become my biggest ear to listen. Whether it be about how to go about a falling out with a friend, how a stupid professor graded my homework, or why my diet isn't working, he will not hesitate to listen to my antics.

7) I have a killer puppy dog face.

I'm not spoiled... But, I like to pride myself into thinking that I got the puppy dog face pretty well whenever I ask my dad something, which makes it pretty difficult for him to say no to... He only sometimes says no... So I think it's working pretty well. :)

8) I will always appreciate brutal honesty.

My father will always let me know when I messed up big. He will always tell me what I should have done instead of getting angry about something. He will always tell me I need to practice more in something even when I think I go it. Brutal honesty is something I now look for in all my relationships. I learned by my father that friends will never hold back on letting you know what you need to hear.

9) I may be a Princess, but I can wear heels and handle my business.

When it comes to handling the things I need to, my father has been there to support me when times got tough. I don't like to be defeated, and I don't like messing my makeup, but I will do what I need to do, thanks to the dedication and unconditional love my father has shown me.

10) Nothing can imitate, break, or replace our daddy-daughter dynamic.

'Nuff said. <3

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
