10 Things You Have Definitely Done If You Are A Procrastinator

Eh, I'll just do it tomorrow.

Procrastination, the action of delaying or postponing something.

1. Does basically anything besides what you are supposed to be doing

"Oh, there is a crumb on the table, let me just clean the entire house." Basically when something is due we do anything but that. We will even clean the house that we have been putting off for a week, just so we can put off something else that we need to do. It's a process really.

2."Just one more episode"

When we need a break, so we watch "one" show on Netflix, which turns into 8 hours and then it is 4 in the morning.

3. "Eh, I'll just do it tomorrow."

We say this each and every day until the night before it is actually due. (Even though we wish we could still put it off another day.)

4. Takes a 5 hour nap so you'll feel like it after (which we all know is not true)

Really we are just wasting as much time as possible and coming up with as many excuses for not doing what we are supposed to be doing.

5. "I wonder what is happening on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, etc., right now..."

Since we are actually not on social media, we think that we will miss the biggest news since we are not logged in. Guess what? You can always look at it later.

6. Being late to everything because you're still laying in bed even though you were supposed to leave 5 minutes ago

Putting off getting out of bed because you stayed up all night because you procrastinated doing your work until the last minute...I feel you. Just five more minutes please....

7. Taking a small break after doing the bare minimum

I wrote the first paragraph of my 1,000 word essay so I will just take a 15 minute break (which turns into an hour.)

8. Waiting until the day before a project is due to do it, even if it was assigned 3 months ago

"I have plenty of time." "It is not due for another month or so." We all make excuses about why we are not doing it yet. However, then it is 3 months later and we wish we would have already done it 3 months ago.

9. "I don't feel like it today, but I am sure I will tomorrow."

And then tomorrow turns into the next day, and the next day turns into the next day, and so on...

10. Panicking because you waited until the last minute and hate yourself for waiting so long, promising you won't do it next time

I know this happens to me every time I wait until the last minute to do anything. I also stress out so much, hate myself for waiting until the last minute, and then say I will never procrastinate again even though I am actually procrastinating by talking about how I will not procrastinate.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
