10 Songs That'll Get You Through The End Of The Semester

With the semester winding down over the next few weeks, your motivation will undoubtedly be at an all time low, while your coffee consumption will likely be reaching record heights. If you're struggling for motivation in your caffeine-induced state of panic, fear not--here are a handful of songs to give you the inspiration you need to survive the end of the semester!

1. "Let's Get It Started" -- The Black Eyed Peas

YOU CAN DO THIS. Just a few weeks left. Get it started, but don't be stupid. Let Fergie and Will.i.am fill you with the motivation to knock out all your work. Then you'll be home and you can get the real party started.

2. "POWER" -- Kanye West

Did you know this song was about you at the end of the semester? Surprise! Kanye's laying this one down for you. You've got the power that no one man (or woman) should have.

3. "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" -- Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell

Ain't no mountain of work gonna keep you from getting to winter break. Or to the bar. Or to your long-distance lover. Nothing will stop you. At the very least, grab the person closest to you in the library and sing this duet to get you through the next pile of work you've got.

4. "We Are Family" -- Sister Sledge

You're not going through this alone! Everyone barricading themselves in the library and pounding cups of coffee is in this mess with you right now. Enjoy the company of your procrastination-obsessed family to get you through the semester before you see your real family.

5. "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" -- Jimi Hendrix

If you're like me, sometimes you just need the sounds of all hell breaking loose to fill you with the arrogance and motivation you need to kick your next assignment's ass. Leave it to Hendrix to set your ears on fire so you can go destroy your next exam!

6. "Hallelujah" -- Jeff Buckley

This one's a little sad, eh? Well, as Kate Voegele says, "what's so beautiful about Hallelujah is that it's a song for when you don't have answers." Maybe that's you right now...searching for answers that'll help you on the final, struggling to figure out how you'll ever possibly get all your work done. Drown in Jeff Buckley's soaring voice and reverb-drenched guitar, cry some well-deserved tears, and get back to work. You got this.

7. "I Will Survive" -- Gloria Gaynor

Enough said. You'll survive. You trust Gloria, right?

8. "Survivor" -- Destiny's Child

Okay, don't trust Gloria? If you don't trust her, maybe you'll trust Beyonce and the rest of Destiny's Children. They're survivors and so are you.

9. "Gonna Fly Now" -- Bill Conti

This legendary song from "Rocky" ought to be enough to pump you up and get you through your work. This song sounds just about as triumphant as the screams of college men and women when their hands cramp at the end of an exam.

10. "All I Want For Christmas Is You" -- Mariah Carey

At the end of it all, don't forget to be excited for the holidays. Maybe you're missing someone you love a whole lot, maybe you just want to see your parents, or maybe you just want to cuddle with your dog. Whoever you're missing, don't worry too much...the holidays are right around the corner!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
