12 Songs That Describe Finals Week

With finals week just around the corner, you’re trying to find all the reasons and ways to avoid the large to-do list sitting beside your planner. If you’re like me, it’s easy to find yourself lost in music rather than facing the fact you should be studying. Sometimes you just need that pump up song to get your motivation going, other times you need the saddest song on your playlist to be on repeat. Here are 14 times artists got the feelings of finals week right.

1. What Do You Mean? – Justin Bieber

“Professor, what do you mean by this exam is cumulative?” “What do you mean this exam is worth 25% of my grade?” “What do you mean it’s impossible to get a 345% on this exam to get an A in your class?”

2. Focus – Ariana Grande

If the title wasn’t enough to describe what you should be doing during this week, Ariana’s additional lyrics may: “I know what I came [to the library] to do…I’m over here working day and night.

3. Pressure – Paramore

I can feel the pressure, it’s getting closer now. We’re better off without you [finals]. Some things I’ll never know, and I had to let them go.

4. Blank Space – Taylor Swift

So, it’s gonna be forever or it’s gonna go down in flames. You can tell me when it’s over, if the high was worth the pain.”

“But I’ve got a blank space…and I’ll probably be writing the wrong answer.”

5. Fix You - Coldplay

When you try your best, but you don't succeed. When you get what you want, but not what you need. When you feel so tired, but you can't sleep."

6. DONE – The Band Perry

“Mama always told me that I should play nice, but she didn’t know [finals] when she gave me that advice. I’m through with you; you’re the one bridge I’d like to burn. All I wanna be is done.”

7. Often - The Weeknd

When people ask you have you been studying for your hardest final, you’ll probably respond with “often.”

8. Sleepless – CAZZETTE ft. The High

Cause I’m sleepless about you…sleepless about you.”

9. Home – Michael Buble

May be surrounded by a million people [in the library], still feel all alone…I just wanna go home.”

10. Out of the Woods – Taylor Swift

“Looking at it now, it all seems so simple.”

“Are we out of the woods yet, are we in the clear yet?”

11. Revival – Selena Gomez

What I’ve learned is so vital. More than just survival, this is my revival.”

12. Celebration – Kool & The Gang

And by the end of finals week, you’ll be ending your week singing, “Let’s all celebrate and have a good time!”

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
