Not all soul mates are romantic. If we are lucky enough, we find those rare and treasured friends who come into our lives to stay. They wipe your mascara when you cry, have a dance party with you in the car, and sometimes seem to know you better than you know yourself. Here are some hints you’ve found your person.

1. There Is No Such Thing As “TMI”

Over Facetime, in the bathroom of a crowded party, sent iPhone screenshots, or during the commercial breaks of The Bachelorette, you guys are comfortable talking about anything and everything with zero judgment And of there is something on your mind, they can probably tell before you even say anything.

2. You’ve Planned Your Futures Together

Clearly, the whole "long distance during college" thing isn't working out. Going from seeing each other every day (and literally, every day), to only a week or two on holiday breaks, can only be temporary. So. you've discussed where you'll settle down, future family trips, and all the wine nights you'll have. Basically, your bond with best friend is the most committed relationship you'll ever have.

3. They Help You Grow

The old saying, "we all want what we don't have," doesn't apply when you have a best friend soul mate. If you're more shy and soft spoken, she helps you be confident and talkative. You influence each other's ability to be strong individuals, and balance each other's weaknesses too.

4. Their Family Is Your Second Family

On any given occasion, you might be at her house with her family while she isn't even there, and it's completely normal. And when you're gone, they wonder where you are. Your best friend's home feels like your own, and vice versa.

5. You'll Always Want Their Approval

She'll tell you the truth even if it hurts your feelings. With everything. An outfit, a nail color, what to do about a boy.. she knows you like the back of your hand, so her opinion matters just as much as your own.

6. You Know Their Favorites

At restaurants scanning the menu, you could easily pick out what your best friend would order. And at the mall, you two are constantly grabbing stuff for the other to try on because you know what looks good on them. Other people come to you to ask, "Would she like this?" because no one knows better than you.

7. Almost Everyone Becomes A Third Wheel

The funniest things to you two couldn't be understood by anyone else. When you two go out together, you're tied at the hip. Like a package deal, if one of you is going, everyone can count on the other being there too.

8. You Are Truly Yourself With Your Best Friend

The good, the bad, the ugly... they've accepted and loved all of it. You never worry about how you look or what you say. Sure enough, you guys are so comfortable that sometimes you catch yourselves in public acting as if you're the only two around.

9. It's Never A Competition

In fact, they've seen you at your worst, and still rooted for you. As best friends, you're a team. When they're happy, you're happy, and every small accomplishment is a celebration. You lift each other up and magnify each other's strengths.

10. Simply, They Are Your Person

She is your person. Other people may come and go, but you two are forever. Thick and thin.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
