10 Signs You And Your Best Friend Are Actually Growing Up
Jude Beck

As time goes by, you grow. Not only as an individual but also as a best friend. You and your best friend have come a long way since your younger days. No longer are you and your best friend stressing over exams or what color to paint your nails. You have a lot more substantial things to talk about.

You two sure have grown up and here are some indicators that your friendship has grown as well:

1. You plan when you see each other.

Nowadays, we can't just assume that we all have an abundance amount of free time like we used to. We are all busy. May that be with work, family, maybe even styling your landlord's hair. Hey, no judgment. Well...maybe a little. This is where planning and scheduling time to see each other comes in. Plus, you get a thrill out of writing it in your planner.

2. Plans will fall through.

In the back of your mind, you will always prepare yourself for them to back out of plans last minute. This used to frustrate the living hell out of you. But now, you're completely fine with a little you time.

3.You will be more understanding.

You've grown to be more understanding that things come up and sometimes you're not the top priority. You know that it isn't intentional and that your best friend still cares about you. You will just have to settle for seeing them another time.

4. Hanging out can mean running errands...

Okay, so maybe you don't ride shotgun in the cart as often as you used to. Nowadays, it's every once in awhile. You've cut back a lot since your younger days. You and your best friend can hang out by going grocery shopping at your local supermarket.

5. or working out...

Sure, you two would go work out when you were younger. However, now you guys are signing up for classes like spinning, yoga, Zumba, or Pilates. You may or may not have paid for classes, but at least you're trying to stay healthy together.

6. ...or going to happy hour.

Sometimes the best time to unwind and catch up with your best friend is over a cold brew and some girl talk. This girl talk is not like it used to be though. You talk about some serious life changing stuff.

7. Conversation topics range from who is married to who already has kids.

This is when you and your best friend think, "OMG, I'm running out of time!" Nah, you still have your whole life to get married and have kids. It just so happens that everyone is just jumping ship into parenthood. Nothing wrong with having a career first and being a boss. Your time will come.

8. You both have careers.

You have or are searching for adult jobs. You and your best friend welcome the challenges you face in your fields. Both of you are bold and want nothing more than to excel in their career.

9. Any chance you get to brunch, you do it.

Only when you start adulting do you truly appreciate brunch. You no longer hate the idea of getting up somewhat early to see your best friend.

10. You don't talk every day.

Both of you are trying to be adults in this crazy world. The key word here is trying. You both will be busy with making your own mark on the world so it's understandable that you two don't talk every day. Doesn't mean you care any less about one another.

Even though you and your best friend have grown up, one thing has stayed the same; you're always there for one another and at the end of the day, that's all that matters.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
