1. She knows the ~cool music~ and sometimes even predicts hit songs before you do
Yes, Mom. You told me I should listen to this song called "Pompeii" long before it hit Top 40 radio.
2. She retweets millennials' favorite presidential candidate on a near-daily basis
Supporting universal health care, closing the wage gap, and mandated paid maternity leave? The mark of an ultimate cool mom.
3. Tattoos are totally fine with her - she actually has a few of her own

You don't come home from college and try to hide your new tattoo from your mom. You come home and find that she got inked again.
4. She has honest conversations with you about important things like sex and birth control
Your mom doesn't avoid the topics hoping you'll learn these things on your own. She gives you the information you need to make smart, safe life choices and helps you whenever she can. Oh, and when the permission slip for the optional condom demonstration in 7th grade health class comes home? She signs you right up.
5. She's a concert lover
She's seen some of the biggest bands in the world, like U2 and the Rolling Stones, multiple times each. You've been going to shows with her since you were 8 years old, and concert tickets are a common birthday and Christmas gift.
6. She's as big of a Harry Potter fan as you are
You always know when ABC Family is running a marathon because you hear her turn it on in the living room. You will never forgive her for only letting you read the last Harry Potter book for a few hours on its release day - she made you give it to her so she could finish it first. Not to mention she gets miffed when you buy a pair of Marauder's Map leggings for yourself and not for her.
7. She gives you her honest opinion, but she doesn't make your decisions for you
She didn't try to force you into a specific college or major. Instead, she told you to do what you love and whatever you think is right for you. But if you need her, she's there every step of the way.
8. She makes sure you see the internet's most important content
Funny dog videos? She'll chase you around with her iPad until you sit and watch them. There's nothing like sitting in class and getting a text from your mom with a Buzzfeed list about the struggles you both face thanks to your resting bitch faces.
9. She's more in shape than most people your age
This might (probably) include you, too. She says she hates exercise, but her devotion to staying in shape makes you think otherwise.
10. She doesn't think you're perfect
Unlike parents who think their kids can do no wrong, your mom calls you out when you do something dumb, no matter who's listening. It sucks when it happens, but she's actually helping you become a better person by putting you in your place. She has the listening ear of a friend, but she makes it clear that she's a parent first. That's really cool.
