"Every shift is your last shift, that's how hockey is played."
For us fans, the Blackhawks are more than just a team.
For me, I've been raised on hockey and this team like it's a religion.
For everyone else, the Blackhawks are something to be feared, to pray that we lose and to yell Crawford's name during every play, hoping he'll let a puck slide through his legs.
For us, this team brought our city a community. It brought a place where people could unite, all because of love for one thing: the Blackhawks.
Here are 10 signs you're just like me. Perhaps a little obsessed, but hey, there is nothing wrong with that.
1. "Chelsea Dagger" is more than just a song.
It's our theme song. We know every single word, and when it's played, we can't help but put forth all our energy. "Chelsea Dagger" means it's time to play, and it's time to put your jersey on because the game is about to begin.
2. You get chills every time you hear the National Anthem at a home game.
I had never understood how amazing it was to be at the United Center while the same man sang his heart out to our countries anthem until I had been to games in other cities.
It's a tradition to stand up, sing along and scream at the top of your lungs for your support, not only for America but for the troops sitting in the stands being recognized every time. All the lights are off, the flag is spotlighted and every single person in that arena has goosebumps.
Other people have said that what we do is disrespectful, but that's not the case. It's an emotional and life-altering experience that you only get when you go to the United Center.
3. You can back up the team wherever and whenever.
This one is one of my favorites. Some people hate the Hawks so much because of them winning the Stanley Cup. Some people hate the fans too. It's when you back up the team with your comeback facts that hits them in the face. (Sorry, not sorry, Preds fans.)
4. You give the players nicknames.
You use them like they are your best buds, and you see them on the daily. Panarin is "Bread Man," Patrick Sharp was "Sharpy," Kane is "Kaner," etc.
5. You follow them on every social media outlet.
This way, you are updated on everything they do. You can watch them warm up, during interviews and after the game on Snapchat, keep game updates on your phone through NHL. It's a way to keep up your love, even from states away.
6. You have superstitions.
Every time you have worn that one shirt, they seem to win. Every time you leave the room, they seem to score. You think to yourself if you just keep doing these things, then they are bound to win.
7. You've been to a Stanley Cup parade.
They are right in the heart of Chi-Town. You probably got there dreadfully early to make sure you have a good spot. Perhaps you even got poured on last summer and didn't care.
8. You have at least one bobblehead.
Trust me in the fact that I know you've gone super early to a game just to get one. And now Duncan Keith or Patrick Kane's miniature figure is proudly standing on your shelf.
9. Overtime is your best friend and worst enemy.
There is no way around it. So many of the Hawks games end in overtime, and it either ends in tears and turmoil or a roar of "Chelsea Dagger."
10. You know Coach Q's weird sayings.
"Peanut butter" when there is a good shot form the top corner, just because he keeps his peanut butter in the top shelf. He also calls great passes "crispy." You have now caught yourself saying these all the time.
Chelsea, Chelsea, I believe.
