With it being the week before Halloween and people slowly getting ready for Halloweekend, people may want to start getting in the mood if they are not already. Below are enough shows or movies to help get anyone in the mood for Halloween for the next week or so while the countdown begins, most of which can be easily found on most streaming sites.
1. Stranger Things
This show, a Netflix original, takes place in the 1980's. It follows the adventures of a group of boys trying to find one of their friends but wind up uncovering other secrets that you must see to believe. Since it is only on season one, it contains just eight episodes but after you watch the first two, you'll find yourself staying up all night binging the other six.
2. Black Mirror
A show with a similar format to Twilight Zone, Black Mirror is an anthology series meaning that there is no story line but a different short story every episode. Due to this, you can scroll through the 13 episodes available and pick and choose which you would like to watch with no commitment!
3. The Babadook
A horror movie that focuses on the mental aspect of scaring, The Babadook tells the tale of a mother and son who find a book that creates problems for the two of them after reading it. This movie creates the eeriness and scares that can mess with anyone.
4. American Horror Story
Currently airing their sixth season, subtitled Roanoke Nightmare, on FX the first five seasons are available on Netflix each with their own story and theme. Ranging from ghosts, an asylum, and witches to murdering clowns or a hotel with secrets, this show has something for everyone and creates scenes that make it look and feel like it could be in the movies.
5. The Nightmare Before Christmas
Unfortunately, this Tim Burton classic has been taken off Netflix at the wrong time. Following the adventures of the pumpkin king Jack Skellington who is gettting tired of his routine of scaring people in the real world and halloween and finds his way to Christmas Town and tries to bring a new meaning to Christmas with his own twist on it.
6. The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Another cult classic that is perfect for Halloween, Rocky Horror follows the story of Brad and Janet who when only needing to make a phone call are brought into the mansion of a scientist who invites them up to the lab to see whats on the slab.
7. The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do The Time Warp Again
A new take on the original listed above that was just released. The newer version has faces that are more recognizable to the younger generations. This list includes people such as Victoria Justice, Adam Lambert, and Laverne Cox with special guest Tim Curry as the narrator. Although it is not available on Netflix, it is on the FoxNow app and On Demand.
8. The Purge
The first of the three movies that were released brings the viewer to a family in the year 2022 where once a year for twelve hours all crime including murder is legalized with all emergency services off for the night. A thriller with multiple jump scares is sure to have you on the edge of your seat.
9. The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death
This movie, which takes place during World War II, begins when a group of children are brought into an abandon house for safety. Little do they know that by entering the house the awakened an evil spirit.
10. The Uninvited
A teenage girl is released from a mental hospital to find her mother has passed. After arriving home she learns that the nurse who was watching over her in the hospital is now dating her father and will do anything to make sure nothing ruins it and secrets stay hidden.
Honorable Mention: The Ring
Since this is all about watching movies and shows from your living room before Halloween it only makes sense to at least mention The Ring. When a rumored video tape is able to kill just from watching it is found people start to die and strange things start to happen.
