So it’s springtime, which means it’s prom season! Prom means lots and lots of stress! Personally, I am super stressed, but I know prom will be a great time this year because I’ll be spending it with those I love most. Since I am super stressed, here are 10 reasons why prom is so stressful for females, so maybe guys can finally understand the struggle.

1. Finding the perfect dress that isn’t $1,000.

Finding a cute dress that you love for less than $1,000 is a struggle, especially since a lot of them are so OVERPRICED FOR NO REASON.

2. Finding a date and finding a tux for him.

Finding a date can be hard if you’re not in a relationship. Luckily, for me, last year I didn’t care if I had a date or not, so I just went with my two friends. This year, I’m in a relationship and I’m going with my boyfriend!

3. Finding a place to take pictures.

You don’t want a place that’s too dirty, too windy, too shady, or too sunny. You don’t want too public of a place, but you also don’t want the middle of the woods. It’s honestly such a struggle to find a good place to take pictures.

4. Planning hair and makeup.

You spend months trying to find the hairstyle and makeup you want, just to mess it all up at prom.

5. Finding accessories that match your dress.

Do I go with silver, gold, or rose gold?

6. Planning after-prom activities.

Do I go home and sleep because I know I’ll be exhausted, or do I stay out with my friends?

7. Getting all the money together for the whole prom experience.

Prom is so expensive for no reason!

8. The stress of getting your prom table together.

Some friends don’t get along with other friends, and some have a date and some don’t. It’s such a struggle getting a good group together.

9. Planning out the timing of your day for getting ready for prom.

Wake up at 9 A.M. Shower at 10 A.M. Nails at 1 P.M. Hair at 3 P.M. Makeup at 4 P.M. Pictures at 5:30 P.M. Prom at 7 P.M.

10. Worrying if the teacher in charge of selling the tickets and making the tables will move around the people at your table to different tables.

Especially for someone who has a lot of anxiety normally, this is A LOT of anxiety. This has happened to me last year, and I’m really scared it will happen again this year.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
