When I feel like my life is a mess and I have a billion things going on, a text or call from my sister is all I need to make me smile.

Reason one:

My sister is one of the most level headed people that I know. In a time of crisis her level head can calm me down and reassure me that my life isn't falling apart.

Reason two:

Her endless support is incredible. Rachel has driven home with her busy schedule and all, to watch me perform in showcases, musicals, and recitals. I am so grateful to have her in my corner.

Reason three:

My pain is her pain and her pain is mine. As a child whenever my sister cried or was angry I would cry and get angry too. I will always be there for her and I know she will always be there for me.

Reason four:

I value her honest opinion. Whether it's a small crisis like deciding what to wear on a date or a big crisis like being turned down from an audition that I really wanted, my sister is always there to tell me her honest thoughts and opinions.

Reason five:

Her advice has saved me from embarrassment and tricky situations. My sister is one of the most intelligent people I know, so when I need advice on a paper for school, what to say to a friend when I have conflict, or how to stage a monologue I have been practicing, I know she is my gal.

Reason six:

Rachel lives a balanced life. I don't know how she does it, but my sister seems to be able to balance a fun social life, rigorous school schedule, and never fails to miss big family gatherings or important family trips. I learn from her that you have to let some things go, and prioritize the things in life that truly matter.

Reason seven:

She makes me proud to be her sister. Who better to go to in the midst of a crisis than someone who makes you proud simply by knowing them? Rachel is the staple child for any mother and father. Her accomplishments thus far in her (almost) 22 years would make any mother and father proud.

Reason eight:

She is an INCREDIBLE cook. If I have had a terrible day and I just really need a homemade taco or some delicious guacamole I crave my sister's amazing food. When she comes home for a visit her cooking is something I always look forward to.

Reason nine:

Rachel is the only person who knows me better than I know myself. When I am having anxiety or I am really overwhelmed by things that are happening in my life, my sister comes swooping in to reassure me that I am capable, strong, and smart. She reminds me of who I am and to never lose any part of myself along this journey we call life.

Reason ten:

No judgement. Rachel is my sister which means that she has to love me no matter what. I can honestly tell her anything, argue about everything, and gossip about anyone and I know that she will love me anyways.

My sister is my go-to, my biggest fan, and my best friend.

Thank you for our giggle fits, our memories of synchronized swimming at the old house, making forts with me out of VCR tapes, coming to all of my shows, telling me when my outfits are ugly, and most importantly always loving me and being there for me. You are truly the greatest.

Love Jenny <3

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
