Your high school teachers are probaably going on and on how you should apply to a big university or state school, but have you ever considered that those class sizes range from 300- 600 students and that you have a better chance of getting a job faster after graduating college if you went to a smaller school? Here's ten reasons why you should consider attending a small college!

1. Small Classes

My largest class consisted of 45 students, and my smallest was a total of eight! We had an absolute blast in that class!

2. The teachers know you

Woah, a teacher that knows your name in college? Is this even a thing? Yes, it is! Because of a small class size, the teacher can personally get to know you and is always open to helping you out inside and outside of school.

3. Easy to make friends

Are you not from the town your college is in? Are you worried you won't meet anyone right away? With a small college, everyone basically knows each other so it's super easy to make friends, join clubs, and maybe even find that special someone!

4. Small campus

Let's say you overslept your alarm and you have only 15 min to get to class on time. No stress.Because small colleges are known for a small campus, the longest walk you have to take is probably only seven minutes long! That leaves time to get dressed, grab your backpack, hop on a bike, and get to class on time!

5. Connections

The entire goal is to get a job after college. Well with that awesome professor-student connection, your professors can hook you up with internships, resumes, and other people to build up your resume and get a job right after college!

6. Small town

One of the best things about going to a college in a small town is the fact that there is no traffic, less crime, and fun things to do over the weekend! Going to a movie theater, your favorite food joint with friends, and even late night drives and stargazing on country roads.

7. Scholarships

Small schools tend to be more expensive than universities but because there aren't a hundred thousand students attending your school, there are more scholarships to go around and more on campus jobs to apply for. Plus you are definitely getting the education you deserve for what you are spending.

8. Hands-on experience

Because of the small student to faculty ratio, your classes will be more hands on and less lecture. Definitely more exciting and more experience for you for your future dream job.

9. Athletics is your family

You may not have the biggest team of the state, but together your work effort is through the roof, and with that you can win national titles. Not only at a small college are you more likely to get on an athletic team, all of your teammates are like your family, which makes the experience ten times better.

10. Home away from home

A small college is the best way to make friends, have amazing professors and teammates, but most importantly, is a home away from home when you put all these things together.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
