10 Reasons Why Having An Opposite-Sex BFF Is Awesome.

You probably heard that "boys and girls can't be friends." That's not true, boys and girls can be friends. In fact, my BFF is a girl, and I love her. Here, 10 reasons why having an opposite-sex BFF is awesome.

1. He/she can definitely help with you that text.

Me: Friend, help me with this text. I don't know how to answer.

Friend: Oh easy, ghost emoji.

Me: ohhhhh, emojis....

Friend: Okay, this guys just told me he likes me...over text. What do I say.

Me: Screenshot please.

Friend: *Screenshot*

Me: "Hey [insert name here], I am so glad you told me, but I already like someone. I hope I didn't hurt your feelings. But we can be awesome friends?" Some sort of BS along those line will be fine.

2. He/she can give you that honest fashion advice.

You don't have to wonder if this is a good outfit for the day, or for your date, or whatever! Just ask your friend.

Me: Okay, how is this?

Friend: Nope.

Me: I didn't even send you the picture yet...

Friend: Nope, just nope.

Friend: Okay, should I wear this scarf with this outfit, or the other one?

Me: I like the brown one, fits more with the Fall weather. And it looks cuter on you.

3. He/she is the first one to know about your potential bae.

You guys are just so comfortable now that you can just talk about boys/girls in a casual fashion. You don't know why, but you always tell them first, and you can have endless conversation.

4. He/she gives you the most brutal, but honest opinion with your potential bae.

But hey, your friendship is basically indestructible, and the truth doesn't hurt.

Me: Okay, this girl just said hi to me. i think something is actually gonna work out with her.

Friend: ...She literally only said hi...

Me: But we had that special eye contact!

Friend: ...no.

5. But he/she gets so excited for you when things are actually working out with his/her bae.

Friend: Friend, we are going on our first date soon(:

Me: OMG YES, YES. I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU. NOW TAKE A CUTE SELFIE TOGETHER.

6. He/she always gives you a hug.

In school, while just hanging out, visiting them when they work, they will always give you a hug, and you will always give them a hug. Not close enough to get a hug, it's okay, they will still send you the *super duper mental hug*

7. He/she can call you out when you're having that emotional moment of your life.

Okay, let's be real. I know not everyone is like this, but guys are pretty stupid sometimes, and girls have their moments. And no one can call you out, but your opposite sex BFF.

8. He/she definitely knows when something is wrong with you.

You try to hide it, but they know when something is wrong. It's so scary, but also you appreciate it so much.

9. He/she always responds.

You are having a rough moment, you are lonely, and you just wanna talk to someone, you can always talk to your BFF! As cheesy as it may sound, he/she is always there for you to listen to your rant, and be supportive. Thank you, friend.

10. He/she is your amazing back-up plan.

So like, you don't have your date to prom. She also doesn't have her date to prom. Guess what, you guys are each other's date now!

Me: If we are single until 65, can we get married?

Friend: Okay.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
