My mom is the most important woman in my life. She is the only constant in my life and without her, I wouldn't be who I am today. Even though moms and daughters fight, which is mostly what my mom and I do, moms are supporters and friends, not just mothers, and here are 10 reasons why.
1. She loves me even when she doesn't like me.
She tells me all the time that she loves me, even when I'm being a brat or don't deserve to be treated nicely. She loves me even when she doesn't like the way I'm acting or treating her.
2. She understands me.
Even when I sound like a crazy person, she completely understands why I feel the way I feel because she was my age once.
3. She's human.
There's this perception we have growing up of the way our parents are "supposed to be" even though we all know when we're older that it's unrealistic. Even moms make mistakes and that's because they're humans just like the rest of us.
4. She's my role model.
I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I had someone else as a mother and role model. She is the strongest woman I've ever met and she's had so many obstacles in her life that have made her the woman she is today, and someday I hope to be that strong.
5. She's patient, but she's also impatient.
Even on her best days, she may run out of patience with me. But she knows that when I'm having my worst days, her patience is what gets me through.
6. She's caring.
She has a heart of gold and she puts everyone before herself, which isn't always a good thing, but she does it out of love.
7. She's brutally honest.
She tells me what she thinks without even hesitating about it, especially when it comes to who I'm friends with or who I'm dating. She's the honest friend you hate to admit is right.
8. She complains, but I can relate.
I'm at that age now where I understand 98 percent of what my mom complains about, and I'm the one who complains right there with her. She complains about how she doesn't want me to grow up, she complains about how being an adult sucks, and she complains about how she doesn't want me to rush my childhood because I'll regret it. (I didn't say I agree all the time...)
9. She works her butt off.
She works all the time, but she does it so that she can give her kids as much as she possibly can. She wants us to have it better than she did when she was a kid.
10. She is my mom, but she's also my best friend.
She is my mom when she needs to be, like when I need a push to get things done. She's also my best friend when I need a shoulder to cry on or need to gossip about my life. She's tough when I need her to be, but we also laugh and cry together like best friends.
