Think about all those really good friends you have had over your life time. Now, think about those one or two who have really tested the water and through the trials and tribulations of your friendship has stayed by your side. I think you are lucky if you even have one. I am exceptionally lucky in having two. Here are the reasons I am forever thankful in having them.
1. They aren't afraid to be real.
It does not matter what the topic is, if you are in the wrong, they will not be afraid to tell you so. They know in the long run no matter how mad you get at them that you will calm down and thank them.
2. The crazy things you have done together.
It might have been climbing outside of buildings dangling from a window or mattress sliding down an entire flight of stairs. Whatever it be, I am sure you have some amazing memory with your best friend that has popped into your mind.
3. The things that make you laugh no matter what.
I think about getting in a water fight in a school kitchen or how the very first time you came to my house. it was literally just to help weed my yard. We all have that memory that has them dying every single time it pops in our head.
4. They are always there for you.
Whether it be through a really bad breakup, them taking you clay throwing and telling you how much better you deserve, or being at your house in 10 minutes flat because you have no idea what to do and need a real long heart to heart.
5. You will always be the first to stand up for them.
It does not matter how upset with them you are, if you hear people talking bad about them you will be the first to stand up for them. Nobody is allowed to trash talk them.
6. Your families love them.
My parents absolutely love the two of them. Whenever I am home I know that I am going to be asked how they are doing, what they are up to, and many other questions about their lives.
7. You love their families.
I look forward to seeing their parents just as much as I look forward to seeing them. We are always bound to have a really good conversation.
8. They have become siblings to me.
They have become my brother and sister. This is why I find it absolutely hilarious when people suggest we date because that's incest. They may be from the south, but I am not! I love the two of them just as I love my biological family maybe even more sometimes. I chose them. They chose me. That speaks volumes.
9. I trust them with everything.
It does not matter what the topic is. I could be terrified to tell anyone else what is going on in my life, but I know I always have them to listen. Just as they know I will always listen when they need it most. Even if it takes everything for me not to fall asleep on FaceTime!
10. Thank you for accepting me.
I can be a pain in the butt sometimes. I'm stubborn and I freak out over the little things, but you guys haven't left me. That means the world to me knowing you are always there no matter what.
