10 Reasons Dogs Are Better Than Humans

Dogtrovert (n): A social introvert, unless there's a dog within a one-hundred-foot radius.

There has never been a dog that I didn't want to pet and I've never come across a dog that I didn't love after about twenty minutes of socialization. At any social gathering or family event, who doesn't tend to gravitate towards the cute, cuddly pup sitting on the couch? Without being able to come home to the happiness of a dog on a daily basis, I'm not quite sure I could maintain relationships with humans.

Here are just a few reasons why dogs are so much better than human beings:

1) Dogs are happier. Human's will never be able to attain the amount of never-ending happiness a dog possesses. A dog wags its tail, pants, and can't contain itself just from the sight of you walking in the door from a long day at work. I don't know about you, but I've never had a human get that excited from the sound of my footsteps on the front porch and the turn of the key in the lock.

2) Dogs teach us humans the act of selflessness. I don't know how many times I've told friends I had to "go home and let my dog outside to go potty." Or even "Sorry, I can't come tonight, I want to spend time with my dog."

3) Dogs are selfless and give unconditional love. I can fuss all I want about my dog digging in the trash can, yell at him for chewing up my toothbrush, and scold him for having an accident in the house; Minutes later, he's forgotten about the whole thing and only wants me to rub his belly and throw his toy.

4) Dogs are smart (sometimes). They know when they've done wrong, and it takes no time for them to learn simple commands.

5) Dogs always want to cuddle. The morning starts with snuggles and the day finishes with them. There's nothing better in the world.

6) Dogs appreciate the simple things in life. It amazes me that I could pick up a stick off the ground outside, bring it in for my pup, call it a new toy, and he's so satisfied. What human would be ecstatic about a stick!?

7) Dogs aren't judgmental. No makeup? Dog doesn't care. Dogs use their owner's bellies as pillows and don't make any comments when they go for that extra slice of cake (did I mention that dogs can't talk!?)

8) Dogs are carefree. There is no joy greater than watching my pup chase cars, flop around, and run. He has no care in the world. Pure bliss.

9) Dogs are always loyal. What dog can make a plan without their human? My little man is always there and nothing makes my heart happier.

10) Dogs are great listeners. When I just want someone to listen: no feedback, no advice, my dogs always got two perky ears to listen to me rant.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
