We know the saying "dogs are a boys best friend", but what about the girls. We got our family dog almost four years ago and I never knew I could love an animal so much. We may not speak the same language, or be able to have full conversations, but my dog has shown me more love and compassion than many people on this planet. Friends and relationships come with complications and arguments that can be draining. This is why I don't mind sounding like the "crazy-dog-lady". Here are some of the few reasons having a dog is way better than having a boyfriend:
1. You can cry to your dog for hours and they won't judge you
Boyfriends will call you crazy and say you have too many emotions, but dogs will just snuggle up to you and maybe if you're lucky enough bring you their favorite ball that makes them happy too.
2. No matter how much you yell at them when you're mad, they forget instantly
A huge problem in relationships is the fact that people tend to hold onto past arguments and bring them up in the future. "Remember how you spoke to me in August of 2001 when we argued about where to go for dinner?!?!" Yeah... Dogs don't do that.
3. Making a dog happy is so simple
All I have to do to make my dog the happiest pup on the planet is throw her ball for her or take her outside and play. Men need much more attention then that AND their "big boy" toys are expensive. Dogs will be patient if you're working, they will just stare quietly until you have time to throw their ball!
4. Your dog wants to go everywhere with you.
My dog can be my little side kick! She never wants me to leave her at the house, so I know she would go everywhere possible with me: including shopping. What boyfriend would be that excited about shopping?! Besides leaving the house, they never want to be in a different room of the house than you. You now have a permanent shadow!
5. They miss you as SOON as you leave
I could go for a 5 minute walk and return and my dog will act like I had left her for a year. She gets so excited and jumps around the house while giving me kisses. There is no better feeling than the love your dog has for you. If I left my boyfriend for 5 minutes, he may not even notice.
6. They look at you like you are the most amazing human they have ever seen
Every girl makes it their #goals to be looked at a man a certain way, but I would prefer my dog to look at me with her loving eyes!
7. They want to eat WHATEVER you want- literally!
There will be no argument on where to go to dinner, because your pup will just share whatever it is you are eating! This saves a lot of time and you will never get guilt into trying food you don't like!
8. They are the best cuddle-bugs, especially on cold nights
Even though my dog is only about 60 pounds, she still takes up a large portion of my bed. The perk of this is, I can move her around without her getting grumpy or getting mad that I woke her up! She is perfect for the cold winter nights and she doesn't snore!
9. You can dress them however you want
For Halloween we dressed our dog in a little skeleton outfit, she may not have been the most thrilled, but she still loved us and never once complained. She has also had a Christmas dress and I know she would look adorable in sweaters and scarves! But, what boyfriend would let you pick out his festive wardrobe?
10. They are great protectors
They will protect you from things you didn't even know you needed saved from, such as leaves or cats or even a bug that may be on the wall. My dog doesn't like when strangers visit the house and even though she is small, her bark sounds big! I've even seen grown men be afraid of her bark- some boyfriends included ;).
