Who doesn't love a good cupcake throw down?

10 Reasons Why Cupcake Wars Is So Cringe-Worthy Good
Food Network

As a Food Network lover, there are tons of entertaining shows out there: Chopped (one of my all time favorites), Cutthroat Kitchen, Guy's Grocery Games, and so many more. However, one takes the cake...the cupcake, that is.

There's something about four bakers going head-to-head in a cupcake throw down that is both entertaining and addicting. Between the exuberant contestants, the commentary from the judges, and the cupcake drama that ensues during each episode, you can't help but love Cupcake Wars for all of its wonderful little quirks. Here's why:

1. All of the food puns

There are endless food puns throughout the entirety of each episode. They're so bad that they're good and you can't help but smile each time you hear one of the judges make one. The way they're delivered almost sound like they were practically forced against their will to do so. IT'S TOO MUCH.

2. Any time Florian speaks

Since Florian grew up in Paris, he has a thick accent. Maybe it's the combination of his accent and his personality, but he's just wonderful. A lot of times it's tough to decipher what exactly he's saying, but every time he talks is great. He's either extremely happy and says the cupcakes are "really good," or he's completely disgusted by the cupcake and says, "I could not eat this cupcake" in his thick accent of his.

3. When disaster strikes in the kitchen right before commercial break

Whether one of the bakers competing forgot to add flour to their batter, burned their caramel, or dropped a whole batch of freshly baked cupcakes on the ground, when disaster strikes, things really start to heat up. Of course you feel bad for the bakers, but you also know that they always find a way to solve the problem in the end. That little bit of drama is just enough to keep you enticed for the full duration of the one hour episode.

4. The way competitors interact with one another

Sometimes the contestants are extremely cordial with one another. Other times not so much! A lot of times you can catch them glaring at each other just a little bit. The best is when the judges applaud one of them for something they did with their cupcake that another contestant failed to do. Then you really see the jealousy come out. It's all in good fun, but sometimes they take it a little bit seriously.

5. Host Justin Willman's ridiculous interactions with the guest judge(s)

There's always one point during the show where Justin is telling the contestants just how much time they have left during the final round, and he always throws in some comment or corny joke to the judges. It just wouldn't be Cupcake Wars without it!

6. The commentary from all of the judges

You're probably starting to sense a bit of a theme here. Most of what makes this show are the little comments. The best are when the judges comment based on the theme of a given episode. For example, an episode where the bakers have to bake cupcakes for some kind of baseball event, they would say something along the lines of, "You really hit this one out of the park!"

7. How intricate and amazing each cupcake display is in no time at all

No matter what the event is, the displays are always INCREDIBLE. The contestants quickly decide what they want their display to look like, sketch out a very vague diagram of it, and it always ends up looking better than anyone had ever imagined. How do the carpenters nail it (pun intended) every time!?

8. The guest judges

Remeber the dreamy Lance Bass from NSYNC? Guest judge. Others include Weird Al Yankovic, Cody Simpson, and so many more. Not only do the judges get to taste each cupcake, but they're integral in helping to decide what display is right for the event. So they essentially decide who wins. NBD.

9. The names of some of the bakeries

The names of the bakeries are more often than not some sort of play on the words "sugar" and "sweet." I think it's a requirement to like puns in order to open your own bakery. Let's Kiss & Cake Up is one of my personal favorites from the show.

10. The cupcake decorations

Don't get me wrong! I LOVE the decorations they put on the cupcakes. In this case, (the ones pictured above) they fit the theme and were fantastic. It's just that sometimes the decorations fall flat, and it makes me giggle. Sometimes the bakers will create decorations that objectively just don't fit the theme of the show. It gives me so much life.

You can't help but love this show and all of its silly quirks. If you're like me, you have to limit the amount you watch because you're always in the mood to bake cupcakes after you watch it, but you and your family end up eating maybe a grand total of six so you end up letting them sit out on the counter for weeks out of guilt until it's finally time to solemnly throw your masterpiece away. Unless that's just me...

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
