1. It'll most likely make her day.
From a mom’s point of view, they’ve been doing everything for everyone since day one. Literally. It has to be comforting knowing some of the responsibility of keeping a family together is off of them as their children grow. And it’s nice to see the effort being made to show them that they are appreciated.
2. Moms love to talk.
You might annoy your significant other, coworkers, or best friends with your incessant rambling, but your mother will be delighted to hear whatever it is you have to say! Go ahead and lay on her what you had for breakfast. And lunch. And dinner
.
3. You won't have her forever.
Breaking news: people don’t live forever. I know, it’s tiresome to constantly keep this in mind. However if you mom is still alive you have the luxury of having her for the time being and you should take advantage of it.
4.This woman gave you life.
Without her, there would quite literally be no you. For that fact alone you should do whatever it takes to stay close to your mother. Also, she had to put up with you through your teenage years. That in itself basically is deserving of some type of award.
5. She has all the answers.
For some reason once you become a mom it’s an unwritten rule that you have the answer to everything. They have knowledge we know not of. Need a potato soup recipe? You bet your bucks she’s got it. Stubborn stain? They’ll concoct a way to get it out. Broken heart? They’ll help you put it back together.
6.She makes you feel better.
I can’t really speak for everyone, but just simply hearing the sound of my mom’s voice is so comforting. She soothes my darkest hours. She puts life into perspective, and makes everything seem alright again. This is my mom making baby me feel better.
7. You haven’t in awhile.
Listen, if anyone gets how busy an agenda can get, it's mama. She understands you’re busy. Especially when you’re a young adult, time passes so quickly and it seems like you can never catch a break. The free time you do have you most likely want to spend with people your age. However, people definitely make time for what is important to them. It isn’t extremely difficult to set apart some of your time every week to chat it up with the person who loves you the most. And if you want to be her favorite child, make it a priority to set aside time every day.
8. You're a reflection of your mom.
When you get older and one day no longer have your parents, you’re going to be the one having to pass on family traditions and stories. Take advantage of her as a resource to know more about yourself and your history.
9. You love her, duh.
And she loves you too. Just as much as she’ll love the phone call you’re going to make after reading this.
10. You read an article about why you should call your mom.
Chances are, if you needed reasons, that’s a reason in itself.
