10 Quotes To Get You Through A Bad Day

To put it in simplest terms, bad days are awful. We all have those days where no matter what you do, you can’t get yourself out of that cycle of negative thinking. Those bad days when everything just has you feeling down — sometimes with or without reason. It’s normal to have these days every once in awhile - sometimes everything and nothing hits you all at once, and you just have to let yourself feel what you’re feeling. It is counterproductive to fight against it, to undermine your feelings and question your right to feel them. So let yourself be sad, or angry or frustrated or disappointed if that’s how you're feeling. Don’t tell yourself that everything is fine if it isn’t. Don’t sweep your emotions under the rug as if they don’t matter - for unexpressed emotions will always find their way to the surface, one way or another. If you’re just having one of those days, here are ten quotes to to help you put things in perspective.

  1. Stop thinking so hard about everything, stop over analyzing. Just go. Just do. If it feels right, just go with the flow. If it feels wrong, don’t think about it anymore and walk away. ―Unknown
  2. When thinking about life, remember this: no amount of guilt can change the past, and no amount of anxiety can change the future. ―Unknown
  3. As time goes on, you’ll understand. What lasts, lasts; what doesn’t, doesn’t. Time solves most things. And what time can’t solve, you have to solve yourself. ―Haruki Murakami
  4. When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive - to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love. ― Marcus Aurelius
  5. Life is ten percent what happens to you and ninety percent how you respond to it.― Lou Holtz
  6. No one can create negativity or stress within you. Only you can do that by virtue of how you process your world. ― Wayne Dyer
  7. Remember how far you’ve come, not just how far you have to go. You are not where you want to be, but neither are you where you used to be. ― Rick Warren
  8. Don’t get mad. Don’t get even. Get stronger, faster, and more powerful. Fill yourself with knowledge and empathy and an indomitable spirit because no one else can do that for you. In the end, it’s your life, your choice, and your world. Give 110%, always. ―Apollo Anton Ohno
  9. Accept — then act. Whatever the present moment contains, accept it as if you had chosen it. Always work with it, not against it. Make it your friend and ally, not your enemy. This will miraculously transform your whole life. ― Eckhart Tolle
  10. You may not see it today or tomorrow, but you will look back in a few years and be absolutely perplexed and awed by how every little thing added up and brought you somewhere wonderful - or where you always wanted to be. You will be grateful that things didn’t work out the way you once wanted them to.

In times of unhappiness, it can be comforting to look towards the words of others- those who may not have experienced exactly what you are experiencing, yet have somehow found a way to formulate the words that say what you can’t say and tell you what you need to hear. While quotes can’t solve all, they are a great starting point to get your mind thinking and your perspectives changing.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
