It’s finally here! After months of all-nighters, constant assignments, and a lot of tears, winter break has arrived! You spent the last few weeks freaking out about finals and living in the library. The only thing that kept you going was the thought of the euphoria of weeks without the stress of grades, deadlines, and morning alarms. These are the 10 phases every college student goes through when the fall semester ends.
1. Freedom
You turned in that last essay, took your final exams, and now you have a month (or more!) of potential relaxation ahead of you!
2. Packing
Remember how you carefully organized everything when you packed to move in for your first semester? Packing for winter break is either an under-packing or over-packing of everything you think you will need frantically thrown into any bag because all you want to do is get home!
3. Hibernation
You crawl into your bed ready to sleep and binge-watch to your hearts content. No morning classes, no afternoon deadlines, just sweet, blissful peace.
4. Laziness
You are on break. You cannot possibly do anything on break until at least a week of straight relaxation.
5. Questions
You’re constantly bombarded by friends, family, neighbors, people from church, and basically anyone who know that you are around the college age asking about your semester. How are your grades? Are you excited to go back? Are you dating anyone? etc.
6. Confusion
What day is it? You told yourself you would only be that lazy for the first week. With no responsibilities or plans, the days and nights all mesh together and before you know it your break is gone!
7. Unproductiveness
You realize that your break is almost over and you accomplished absolutely nothing! None of those idealistic things you had planned to do like see your friends, clean your closet, or read some books happened because HELLO you were on a break!
8. Boredom
There’s nowhere to go, no one to see, and no place that delivers after 10pm. You realize you maybe should have a hobby outside of Netflix, but it’s too late to start one because when you return to college you won’t have time for it anyway.
9. Happiness
You get back to college and you’re glad to be free again and surrounded by friends that have grown to be like your family.
10. Breakdowns
Then after syllabus week of spring semester you start to breakdown and remember why you were so anxious to go home for break; because college is hard, busy, and stressful 24/7. But without those constant responsibilities and plans you lose your mind!
