10 Perks Of Fall

Trust me, I love summer being that I am a summer baby being born in August; however, there is just something special about the fall. The leaves start changing into yellow, orange, and red colors from their normal green, creating a canvas of color against the now chilly blue sky. The air is a little colder so you can now break out those big comfy sweaters and vests. The boots/booties come out and the smell of pumpkin everything is in the air. How can you not like this time of the year? It is the in between before the cold harsh winter.

1. Boots/Booties Are Back!

It is finally time again to break those boots and booties back out of the closet! I personally love this about the fall. Boots and booties are so easy to throw on with any outfit and they instantly make an outfit that much better, whether they are dressy boots or casual.

2. Sweaters and Vests.

Sweaters and vests are ready to keep you cozy through these chilly months ahead of you. Sweaters are awesome since you can wear them with anything, whether it is a skirt, dress, jeans, or leggings. They also come in a ton of colors and styles. Vests are perfect for the fall since you can basically wear them as a jacket since it is not cold enough yet to break out that winter coat. Last but not least, cardigans. We cannot forget the cardigans, they are one of my personal favorites. You can get cardigans in all different lengths, styles, and colors. They go with everything and they are just sooooo comfy.

3. Scarves.

It is not that cold out yet were you need to be all bundled up. But a cute sweater or cardigan will be complimented nicely with a lovely scarf. It will keep you just the right amount of warm without needing a real coat on yet.

4. High Socks And Snuggles.

Keep your feet and legs warm with a cozy pair of high socks. Make a cup of hot chocolate, tea or cider and get in bed. While you are at it grab your favorite book, magazine, or laptop and snuggle up.

5. Hot Chocolate. Tea. Cider. Coffee.

Fall is the best time to get snuggled up or go out to a cute little cafe and have some hot chocolate, tea, cider, or coffee. It is the perfect temperature to have a tasty little treat that will warm you right up. It is the perfect time to get cider, every pumpkin picking or fall ready place will be ready for you to try some of their delicious cider.

6. The Leaves Are Changing!

You know it is fall when you see the leaves change from green to orange, yellow, and red. It has to be one of the most beautiful things that just sneaks up on you. Even though the leaves are dying off, they float so gracefully down creating bare limbs but covered grounds.

7. Pumpkin Everything.

It is time for pumpkin everything...Fall is pumpkin season. There are pumpkin muffins, pumpkin lattes and drinks, pumpkin pie, pumpkin soup, and pumpkin bread. Honestly, there is so much you can make with a pumpkin that tastes really good. Go pumpkin picking and get cooking or at least get to somewhere that is selling pumpkin goodies because they are amazing!

8. Pumpkin Picking.

Gather your friends up and get to a pumpkin field or fair. It is a great thing to do when you have nothing going on during a lazy fall day. There are hay rides, food, corn mazes, apple cider donuts, and of course pumpkins.

9. Halloween Cookies.

I know these come out like every holiday, but come on...they are amazing! They deserve a shout out for being so great and filling our stomachs with delicious, sugary cookies. Every time I see these cookies I can just picture snuggling up with a book or movie with some hot chocolate and of course the cookies.

10. Dressing Up And Decorating For Halloween.

Fall is all about Halloween. The decorations start to come out late September unless you live in Salem, I am sure they start decorating as soon as possible. You have the carved pumpkins, hanging ghosts, fake spiders in windows, a graveyard, the bones, and so on surrounding your home. Here comes the spookiness. Halloween is the only time it is really acceptable to dress up in some silly costume that you would not normally wear around. It is always so much fun figuring out what you are going to be, who wants to be it with you, how you are going to make it, and putting it all together getting the finished product. When you are in college Halloween is a big deal. Hallo-weekend is a three day ordeal and it has to be one of the best weekends hands down (at least through my college career it has not disappointed me yet). Get your costumes ready cause it will be here before you know it!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
