10 Movies That Taught Us Valuable Life Lessons

Movies are a great escape when it seems like nothing is going your way, but they are even better when the credits start rolling, and you rethink your entire life up until that very moment. Some movies just make you think, and these ten movies do exactly that.

1. Bring It On

An iconic movie full of cheering and competition. The first time I saw this, I was inspired to be a cheerleader. Bring it on taught us all the journey of competition and working hard for what we want. Thank you "Bring it On" for teaching me to work hard, play nice and to always bring it on, obviously.

2. 10 Things I Hate About You

This is probably the cutest movie in history, and sometimes I only watch it to stare at Heath Ledger the entire time. But this movie taught me about the obstacle of life and also gave me unrealistic expectations of someone serenading me on a football field.

3. Legally Blonde

Elle Woods is the definition of goals if I ever saw one, and she truly exemplifies a woman working hard for what she believes in. She taught us all to never let a man stand in our way and that working hard and believing in yourself will get you to where you truly want to be.

4.Sweet Home Alabama- We learned that sometimes, childhood sweethearts work out and that we should never give up on love. I also learned that I want to be Reese Witherspoon and that country boy is always a good idea.

5. Maid In Manhattan

We learned that we can end up with the most unsuspecting people and also that Tyler Posey was the cutest child ever. We also learned that Jennifer Lopez can rock a maid outfit better than most people.

6. How to Lose a Guy in 10 days

We learned that Matthew McConaughey is the sexiest man alive. We also learned how unrealistic an impromptu song number is and that it will probably never happen. Unfortunately, we probably won't be able to sing "You’re So Vain” in a duet with someone we dislike.

7. 50 First Dates

We learned that anything with Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler will most likely be a great movie. We also learned that love knows no boundaries, and even memory loss can’t stop it. It also made us all want to play the ukulele.

8. 13 Going on 30

This is the best movie to watch if you’re ever feeling down. This movie taught us to never let mean girls get in our way and to never let other people’s opinions influence our decisions. This movie proves that dreams can come true and how much I still want my own toy dream house.

9. He’s Just Not That Into You

This movie taught us a lot of lessons about dating, and also proved that those lessons aren’t always true. It showed us that love doesn’t follow rules, and if a guy likes you, he wont always “make it happen, no matter what”.

10. The Wedding Planner- Again with the Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey movies, this one reassured us that they are the true movie power couple. This movie taught us all to do what we love, but to always put ourselves first. At the end of the day, your happiness matters, even if that means handing over a multi-million dollar wedding deal to your best friend.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
