Remember those middle school trends that you always had to be apart of? Well here are 10 middle school trends that (thankfully) don't exist anymore.

1. Silly Bandz

Silly Bandz were created in 2006 and quickly became the trend for all middle-schoolers. They came in many shapes and sizes such as animals, musical instruments, letters and even glow-in-the-dark ones! Kids would even sell them or trade them within their school. If you didn't have about 50 of these, were you really a cool middle schooler?

2. Plaid bermuda shorts

Almost every girl in my middle school had at least one pair of these shorts. Don't forget the ballet flats and Limited Too t-shirt!

3. Aeropostle T-shirts

Throughout middle school, Aeropostle was my "go-to" store. I loved all of the clothes and the styles they had to offer and most of my clothes were from there. However, (to me) nothing was more obnixous than the big "A" on the shirt.

4. MySpace

MySpace was super big when I was in middle school. Almost everyone in my middle school had a MySpace. It was a cool place to add your top friends, share photos and videos. However, MySpace was soon replaced by Facebook by 2010.

5. Songs from 2008-2011

A couple of songs that stick out in my head in particular are the songs "Fireflies" by Owl City, "Love Like Woah" by The Ready Set, "You Belong With Me" by Taylor Swift and "Vanilla Twilight" by Owl City. All of these songs used to be my jam in middle school and when I listen to them now, I get pretty nostalgic.

6. Blingee

The tackiest photo editing website to have ever been created. Blingee was a way to put super obnoxious, glitter moving words on your pictures. Half of these pictures didn't even make sense and the pictures that were "blingeed" were usually just girls taking selfies of themselves with a digital camera. (I have no idea what's even going on in the above photo...)

7. Picnik

Another editing site that was very popular between 2008-2011 was Picnik. Picnik was a way to add sepia tone or high contrast to your MySpace/Facebook profile picture. Kids also tended to add texts to their photos that read "Haterz make me famous" or "Love ya <3"

8. "Rawr means I love you in dinosaur"

This was a very popular saying in middle school. It was on every MySpace page and every middle-schooler said at least once a week. The picture that is associated with this saying also comes in many different styles. This saying was the epitome of every middle school girl in her "emo phase."

9. The "emo phase"

Almost every boy or girl in middle school had an emo phase. The girls had the hair that covered their forehead, neon skinny jeans, thick rubber band bracelets and only shopped at Hot Topic. I didn't have any emo phase, but I did have a few friends who went through it and most of them cringe when reminded of it.

10. Original Disney Channel Shows and Movies

Shows like Wizards of Waverly Place, The Suite Life on Deck, Hannah Montana, Cory In the House and Phineas and Ferb were the best shows on Disney Channel. Unfortunately, these shows only come on at like 4 a.m. Disney Channel also had some good movies during that time. Movies like Camp Rock, The Suite Life Movie, The Cheetah Girls: One World, Wizards of Waverly Place: the movie, and even High School Music 3.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
