Today is Valentines’ Day and it’s a day for love. Here are a few of my favorite love longs to get you in the mood. And if you don’t have a Valentine like me we can be each other’s Valentine. So, Happy Valentine’s Day loves!!
1. Noone Else Comes Close to You-Backstreet Boys
Anyone that knows me, knows that I love the Backstreet Boys. So, it’s no surprise that I would chose them as my number one pick. I love this song and if I ever find a boyfriend who becomes my fiancé who becomes my husband this will be our wedding song, if in fact I decide to have a real wedding.
2. At Last-Etta James
The late and great Etta James gave our grandparents (or great grand…) the feels with this song. It has been played at several weddings and has been in countless most memorable love song countdowns.
3. Thinking Out Loud-Ed Sheeran
Who can resist a simple ballad with just the strings of a guitar. Ed Sheeran makes these lyrics sound smooth like butter. Just listening to it will make you all warm and fuzzy inside.
4. Giving You the Best That I Got-Anita Baker
Not many millennials know who Anita Baker is. But she is a best-selling R and B singer that hails from Detroit, MI. The song is basically telling the person that you love that you’re going to keep giving the best of you.
5. Everytime I Close My Eyes-Babyface ft. Mariah Carey
With Mariah Carey singing backup this song is one of the more popular R and B songs of the 90s. Many credit Babyface as a musical genius for singing, producing and writing many songs for several artists. This song doesn’t disappoint with how well of a musician he is.
6. Dreaming of You-Selena
Gone much too soon Selena only had a small amount of time with her English-speaking songs. It was a hard choice picking this over I Could Fall in Love because they’re both beautiful songs. Today Selena’s legacy lives on in her music and by those that cared and loved her.
7. Unthinkable (I’m Ready)-Alicia Keys
I think the video tells more of a story than the song itself. But without the video it’s still a romantic song about someone crushing on someone else.
8. You Give Good Love-Whitney Houston
The late and great Whitney has been noted as being one of the greatest artists of our time. Although, she had her struggles there’s no denying that the she had unbelievable talent, that many of us could only dream of.
9. Truly, Madly, Deeply-Savage Garden
This pop duo consisted of Darren Hayes and Daniel Jones who hailed all the way from Australia. While, this song can probably be interpreted in two ways (one of them being a break up song) I still that it’s also a perfect love song.
10. Here and Now-Luther Vandross
Another artist on this list that left us much too soon. Luther Vandross is probably the king of R and B songs. While this song came out in the 80’s it’s still one of the most loved R and B songs.
Have you heard of any of these songs? Do you like the ones that I picked? What are some of your favorite love songs?
