This past week marked the 15-year anniversary of everyone's favorite movie, "Legally Blonde." Whether you are a sorority girl, a lover of movies with a strong female role, or just a fan of the plot, "Legally Blonde" was definitely a movie to remember. What made this movie special to me was that against all odds and stereotypes, a girl from Beverly Hills not only put her mind to something, worked for it and achieved it, but she believed in herself and let go of those holding her back to change her life and find her calling. Aside from the fact that Elle Woods taught us the bend and snap and that orange is not the new pink, here are other lessons that we learned from the bubbly, blonde sorority girl turned successful lawyer.
1. If you work hard, you can accomplish anything.

Elle Woods didn't get into law school by going to parties and wet t-shirt contests; instead, she sat and she studied and she worked for what she wanted. She shows that no matter what people think of you, if you set your mind to something, you can do anything (like getting into Harvard Law).
2. Sometimes you need TV and a box of chocolates to feel a bit better.

Everybody has those days where the world just kind of sucks and you just need to indulge and treat yourself to some alone time. If you are upset or just feeling down, it's OK to take a step back eat a few chocolates and catch up on some TV. But don't forget, the person that broke your heart ultimately isn't worth it.
3. Exercise does have its perks.

Happy people apparently don't shoot their husbands. Isn't that enough? Well, maybe not always true, but exercise does help with endorphins, which can make you happier. So maybe when you're done with the chocolate, go for a quick walk around the block or hit the gym to boost yourself back up.
4. The little things matter sometimes, even if not everyone sees that.

Maybe you can say the alphabet backwards or name all of the winners of your favorite game show --whatever little tidbit fact you know is true to who you are. The little things do matter, so don't hide who you are and what you know; someday it'll pay off.
5. Don't judge a book by its cover.

Whether you are literally looking for a summer read or are in the midst of meeting new people, a lot of times there is more than meets the eye. So before you judge, take a few seconds to flip through the pages and get to know people.
6. Know your worth.
There are people in your life who are going to try and take advantage of you or put you down. However, you have to realize you are better than those who try and get the best of you, and it is OK to walk away from negative people in your life, but don't settle or belittle yourself for the benefit of others.
7. Animals make the best best friends.
Elle's prime example was Bruiser, her little pal that was with her while prepping for class and studying. What more could you need than a cute little pup there for you when you need them?
8. You are strong, with or without a boyfriend.
Your strength is not measured in who your boyfriend is or even if you have one. You are your own extremely strong person and a great individual. Don't forget that!
9. Dream big.

Set your sights on something big. Don't shy away from something that's hard or requires an immense amount of work. Dream big, and don't give up on what you want in life.
10. Always believe in yourself.

No matter what or who stands in your way, you can do whatever you set your mind to.
