Arab girls living in the west have it tough. I am an Arab girl who was born and raised in the United States. I think about our “problems” a lot because they affect me almost daily. So I made up a hashtag to describe this phenomenon and finally created a Twitter account to broadcast it, since I’m just that dedicated to letting everyone know we have these "issues." It is difficult sometimes, but I would not trade it for the world. I’m a proud American of Arab descent, and now I want to flaunt it. From extended family woes, to people mistaking you for belonging to other ethnic groups, to loving Middle Eastern artists before your favorite American ones, there are many quirks that I could discuss. Instead, I decided to mention 10 of them. Take a look at this list so you know what I’m talking about.

"You are Arab? Do you want to hang out?"
