If you have never been to Ohio you might be convinced that it is just farms and fields-and you wouldn't be completely wrong. But in this great state we have huge cities, endless places to explore, and an abundance of suburbs (each with their own something special). In central Ohio, with a population of over 18,000, is Pickerington. Pickerington is home to many neighborhoods, schools, families, restaurants and stores. With the naked eye it may seem as though Pickerington just has chain restaurants, big-box retailers and nothing really special. But this suburban town is actually home to so many amazing local gems.

Herb'n Cafe

Open six days a week for lunch and dinner, as well as brunch on Sundays, Herb'n Cafe offers locally grown ingredients, naturally raised beef that is free of hormones and antibiotics, wild caught fish, cage free chicken and they do not serve any processed foods. It has a 4.9 out of 5 star rating on its Facebook page by its customers and has had much attention by the local media.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
