10 Things Every Extremely Picky Eater Has Heard
Momma Said

If you're a picky eater, then you will recognize these ten things every one of us has heard in our life time.

1) You're so boring, why don't you ever try anything new?

Now what sense would it make to spend money on something I may end up not liking? In the end, I would just be out of that money, disappointed and still hungry. I'd much rather buy something that I already know I like and will satisfy my hunger.

2) Do you ever get tired of always eating the same thing?

No, I will never get tired of chicken, macaroni and cheese, or potatoes. There are so many ways to fix up all those dishes, it is nearly impossible to ever get tired of these foods. The classic chicken strips will forever be my favorite, no matter how "childish" I may seem ordering them.

3) You do know that potatoes aren't vegetables, right?

Yes, I understand that technically potatoes are a starch. However, you asked me what vegetables I like, and if I didn't say potatoes, I wouldn't have had anything to say at all.

4) Did your parents not make you sit at the table until you ate all of your food?

There were multiple nights that I made a bed out of the kitchen chairs. Eventually, my parents realized that forcing me to stay at the table all night still wouldn't be enough to make me eat broccoli, and why waste food they're willing to eat?

5) But wait, do you like....

Go ahead and keep listing foods, I'm telling you I'm an extremely picky eater and I more than likely am not going to like anything you list. But go ahead and keep asking anyways. But don't act surprised when I tell you no.

6) You're not American.

I know that I don't really like Apple Pie, but I promise you that I am in fact an American.

7) You really don't like food because of textures?

I really don't like certain foods because of their textures. Trust me, most of the time I like the flavor, just not the texture. I wish just as much as you do that I would enjoy eating any berry.

8) You should try it anyways–your taste buds do change as you get older.

I know that my taste buds change as I age, but 99% of the things I don't like isn't actually because of the flavor, it's because of the texture. With that being said, I can promise you that even if I try it again, I'm not going to like it.

9) I know your order was messed up, but do you really have to go back up there?

I am sorry if going back up to the front is embarrassing, but I asked for no mustard because I really cannot stand it. Even if I try wiping it off, the taste is going to stay on the bun and I still won't be able to eat it. Then I'll have to watch you guys while you enjoy your food and I just sit there thinking about what I could have been eating.

10) You're too picky.

Trust me, I know that I am picky. You also knew I was picky because I have warned you on multiple occasions, you just insisted it was okay and that you're picky too.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
