I love movies, but that doesn't always mean that I have time to watch them. However, in the summer I have way more time to do the things I love, and I live close to a drive in. Here are ten movies that I am really excited about for Summer 2016.
The order does NOT have any significance.
1. Finding Dory
Because who isn't excited for this sequel to finding Nemo? We've waited 12 years and couldn't be happier to dive back into the deep blue with our favorite clown fish!
2. X-men Apocalypse
If you haven't seen the X-men movies yet, you should! X-men is one of my favorite series and seems appealing to almost everyone. I have gotten several people into them after they said things like, "I don't like Si-fi movies" or "I don't like superhero movies." Just give them a try and if you're hooked like me, this new installment will have you super excited. However, pay close attention because the timeline can be a little confusing.
3. Nerve
Starring Emma Watson and Dave Franco this movie looks like an action packed good time! A social media game of endless dares earns the players money every time that they complete a task, which are decided on by the viewers. However, the game turns dangerous whenever it takes the identity of Emma Watson and Dave Franco's characters and they are forced to play until they win. This exciting movie will hit theaters July 27!
4. Central Intelligence
The Rock and Kevin Hart, what more do I need to say. This comedy is about a formerly overweight (The Rock) high school student who is now a lethal CIA agent. While at his reunion, he is forced to pair up with a former star athlete who is now an accountant (Kevin Hart) to save the U.S. spy satellite system. This movie is sure to get some laughs with the duo of the Rock and Kevin Hart.
5. Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates
This comedy starring Zac Efron and Adam DeVine (Boomer from PItch Perfect) as the Stangle brothers is about two brothers finding dates for their sisters wedding in Hawaii. This is because they are destructive at any family event and their parents are hoping that dates will keep them under control. Little do they realize that their two well-mannered and proper dates are actually just two hot messes that wanted to go to Hawaii. Coming to theaters July 8th.
6. The Conjuring 2
If you love scary movies, this is the big one for you! The Conjuring 2 is supposedly based on true events that took place in 1977. Ed and Lorraine Warren are paranormal investigators who are approached by a mother who believes that there is an evil in her home. This becomes clear when her youngest daughter begins showing signs of possession. Being the scaredy-cat that I am, I will be staying far away from this movie.
7. Neighbors 2
Another Zac Efron comedy that came out this summer. This is the sequel to Neighbors, but the tables have turned. The crazy frat house may no longer live next to the Radner family, but now a crazy new kind of sorority does. This means that they must team up with an unlikely ally, Teddy Sanders, from the frat house to put an end to the sorority's crazy partying, so they can sell their house.
8. Captain America: Civil War
This was a no-brainer for all of the superhero fans out there! The avengers are together again, but not in a typical way. When the government wants to become involved in the way that superheroes protect the city, the avengers disagree. Captain America believes that they should remain free without government interference, but Iron Man disagrees, which creates for quite the showdown. Plus, some unexpected superheroes may also pop-up!
9. The BFG
This may seem like a little kids movie, but I for one read this in elementary school. This gives it an appeal to many adults now, and may contribute to how well the movie does. I for one will definitely be seeing this, but may need to re-read the book first since it's been a good 10 years since I read it. This movie follows 10year-old Sophie as she meets the Big Friendly Giant and is taken on the adventure of a lifetime as everything that she thought she knew changes. Directed by Steven Spielberg, this one is sure to please fans of the book.
10. Now You See Me 2
It was hard to pick just one more to add to this list with movies like The Angry Birds Movie, Star Trek Beyond, Independence Day: Resurgence, TMNT 2, Jason Bourne, and Alice Through the Looking Glass, but I loved Now You See Me. I have watched it too many times and have introduced it to so many of my friends. I never get tired of seeing someone's reaction to the unpredictable ending. I am hoping that this one will be just as good! In this second installment, the four horsemen are back and this time up against a tech mogul. Will the illusionist prove to con their way out of this one?
