It's that time of year again. People are scrambling to carve pumpkins, buy candy, and pick out the perfect Halloween costume. But for most college students, Halloween costumes can be pricey! The majority end up making their own, but now there is a time crunch. *Insert creative ideas here.* Because there is no need to do this alone, here are a few ideas.
1. Frida Kahlo - Never heard of this famous artist? That's okay! It is all the more reason to dress up as her. All it takes is a flower crown, heavily penciled in eyebrows, and some statement jewelry.
2. The Solar System - This one may seem strange, but it looks really cool. A galaxy shirt, dress, and/or pants will make the costume more obvious. Then just attach foam circles or spheres(eight of them to be precise). If you really are looking to be out of the box, add some glow in the dark stars to brighten up your galaxy!
3. Oh Deer and Holy Cow - Pick one of these punny ideas or grab a friend and make it a pair costume. For the deer, wear all brown and some antlers or a brown headband, then tape the word "OH" onto your clothing. For the cow, wear black pants and a white shirt with black spots. Also wear white angel wings and maybe add in a halo to really emphasize the "holy" part.
4. Ceiling Fan - Break out the pom poms! Oh and don't forget the t shirt that says "Go Ceiling". Ha get it, you're a ceiling fan.
5. Big Kid - This costume is comfy and simple. This could be done a variety of ways, but my recommendation is to wear a onesie and carry around some childhood toy, i.e. a stuffed animal.
6. Orbit Girl (or Guy) - This costume usually calls for a white blazer and skirt, but it is not required. Just make sure to wear a blue scarf and rep that Orbit logo by handing out some gum.
7. Cat Burglar - For those looking to dress up as a cat, here's a way to step up your game and make your costume stand out. In addition to the whiskers, cat ears and all black clothing, your costume should consist of a black eye mask and a black bag to hold all of you stolen goods. Of course the bag should have a golden dollar sign on the outside of it; what other way is there to display your thievery?
8. Taco Bell(e) - To be honest, this costume is plain awesome. Either purchase a Princess Belle costume or wear a yellow dress with a crown, and add anything taco related. Some options are to tape pictures of tacos to yourself, walk around with a case clearly marked saying tacos, or create a poster or sign that looks like a Taco Bell product.
9. Alvin And The Chipmunks - Ideally, this is for a group of three. Alvin would wear a red shirt with the letter A on it, Simon would have a blue shirt and glasses, and Theodore would be in a green shirt and most likely holding a piece of food. Also don't forget to wear the chipmunk ears!
10. The Classic Ghost - If you end up really desperate, just cut some eye holes into a white sheet. Because its Halloween, so a predictable costume is better than no costume!
But keep in mind that no costume is better than a clown costume. Stay safe this Halloween and be creative!
