I think it is pretty fair to say that everyone has seen a movie that they hated so much that they told everyone to not give it the time of day. There are lots of examples, whether it is a remake/reboot that no one asked for and wasn't better than the original, an adaptation that wasn't as good as they wanted, had questionable casting choices, etc. However while some films seemingly cannot escape from this stigma there are some of these supposedly terrible films that, while not great, can actually be pretty enjoyable as long as you know what to expect. Let me be clear, I am not saying these are great movies. I am saying that I personally enjoy them and do not think they quite as terrible as people say. So without further ado, here are my picks for movies that really are not that bad:

"RoboCop"

The latest "RoboCop" movie mostly suffered from a lack of being necessary. I mean there really was no reason to make another "RoboCop" movie and it could only be compared to the original. However, if you look at the movie on its own terms it is more than your average action thriller. One element that makes it unique is its use of the talk show that Samuel L. Jackson narrates, offering some biting satire to bring some levity to the film. The action is also engaging and the performances are really where they need to be. Joel Kinnaman brought a lot of depth to the challenging title role while Gary Oldman took a character that could easily have been a weaselly villain and turned him into a complicated protagonist. I will admit the plot isn't entirely up to snuff as there isn't a focused antagonist and Michael Keaton's character doesn't seem particular evil, just a greedy a-hole. Still, there are plenty of unique strengths for the film to overcome its faults and while it might not have offered anything new to the table it is still a worthwhile film in its own right.

"The Lone Ranger"

For some reason this seemed to be the movie of 2013 that everyone chose to hate. I will admit that Johnny Depp as Tonto really was not a good casting choice and the film does run a little long. Still the comedy and banter between the two leads was solid and the train sequence in particular was spectacular. Westerns have not had much luck at the box office and with the bomb of this we probably won't get many more Westerns, but I still feel like this movie does not deserve all of the hate that it has gotten. Quentin Tarantino even called it one of his top ten films of 2013.

"The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen"

Okay yes, the behind-the-scenes drama was so bad that it forced Sean Connery to retire and yes the film has almost nothing to do with the source material. Still, it is a fun and unique concept to have an Avengers-style team-up of classic novel characters and I felt that the movie was entertaining. Is it ridiculous? Absolutely and it is most definitely not a good movie, but it is still an enjoyable ride as long as you keep you expectations in check. Plus having Sean Connery hunt down Mr. Hyde with Tom Sawyer with the help of Captain Nemo is just a ridiculously amusing idea.

"Terminator Salvation"

The "Terminator" franchise has just not had any luck since the second installment. As the installments have gone by all the subtlety and characterization and inventive visuals have been replaced with repetitive action scenes and wooden characters. Still, while I may be in the minority here, I felt that "Salvation" was a unique installment that, while it didn't fully exceed at what it was trying to do, was at least worthwhile. I will be the first to admit Christian Bale doesn't do the greatest of jobs here. For some reason he thinks that acting tough means having some form of throat cancer, and I joke with my friends that there should be a game based off of how many times he says "John Connor" in that movie, as if the audience doesn't remember who he's supposed to be. But I thought Sam Worthington and Anton Yelchin did a fine job and the film was visually great. I know many lament the fact that Arnie wasn't in this movie but that really wasn't the point, this was all about the war before the Terminator, and while the story could have been better I do feel that the movie does manage to do an adequate job. And it dares to be different and that is admirable in my book.

"Van Helsing"

I remember how much I tried to talk my parents into letting me see this movie when it came out. I mean come on, I was 10 and this was a movie with Wolverine fighting Dracula, Frankenstein and the Wolf Man? What's not to love? Yes the movie itself is ridiculously cheesy and most of the dialogue is awful and the special effects are a little lackluster, but I still love this movie. I know it is not a quality film and while my nostalgia goggles may cloud my view this movie still is a good deal of fun. Plus the opening guitar theme and use of steampunk are just plain cool.

"Cowboys & Aliens"

Man that title is so stupid. I mean it is accurate and to the point but that title really made it hard for anyone to be able to take this movie seriously. It almost makes it sound like a SyFy channel original movie, not a Hollywood blockbuster. Still, as stupid as the film may sound, it actually kind of works. Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford effortlessly inhabit their role as grizzled cowboys, hitting the Western tone perfectly and convincing me that they really can kick some alien butt. The aliens also had an interesting design and the film did a good job bringing an unlikely group together for the greater job. The action and visuals were impressive too. While it was kind of dumb that the aliens were coming to Earth for gold and the plot in general was kind of lame, the film is at least unique and, if you get a chance, pretty dang cool.

"Fantastic Four"

First off, just to get it off my chest, 2015's "Fantastic Four" was terrible, I can't adequately convey just how terrible that movie is. But this isn't about that one, we're talking about the 2005 original. I think one of the main problems people have with this movie is how cheesy it is. But it actually kind of works, the Fantastic Four are meant to be family-friendly and are kind of cheesy by nature and seeing as how I was 11 with this movie came out, I was the target demographic and loved it. Having gotten older I realize it isn't as fantastic as it claimed to be but as family-friendly superhero entertainment it works and is definitely better than its sequel. And while I do absolutely hate how Doctor Doom is handled in this movie, you can take my word for it that it is nowhere near as bad as how he's handled in the 2015 turdfest.

"Daredevil"

Poor Ben Affleck, the early 2000s were just not good to him. I can totally understand his reasoning behind hopping onto this superhero franchise, "Spiderman" and "X-Men" were ushering in the superhero genre as we know it and making bank so who wouldn't want to be part of the trend? "Daredevil," however, just didn't quite measure up to the other superhero blockbusters and in comparison, looks terrible. But on its own, specifically the Director's Cut version, it really isn't terrible. I wouldn't say the movie is that good but I don't feel like it is as terrible as people make it out to be, especially when you compare it to some of the later superhero films like "Ghost Rider" and "Elektra." While the film is on the short-end of the stick of the beginning of comic book movies and has some poor dialogue, it isn't a total disaster. I am kind of glad the movie didn't completely work because Fox let the rights revert back to Marvel and now we have the brilliant Netflix "Daredevil" series and Ben Affleck has gone on to be Batman so at least it's a happy ending.

"Transformers"

It seems the longer this franchise gets on the worse it gets. I mean the last one was awful and the Dinobots were barely in it! However I feel like people retroactively despise the first entry based on its sequels and that really isn't fair. While it is littered with product placement, explosions, and objectification of women like every Michael Bay movie, this one actually manages to be enjoyable despite all that. Which, considering Michael Bay being who he is, is a bit of a small miracle. This film has everything a teenage boy would want and if you try and forget the sequels that come later it can actually be a good amount of fun.

"The Lost World: Jurassic Park"

Following one of the most groundbreaking films of all times is no easy task, as Steven Spielberg is well aware of (see: "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom"). Still, even though this film is nowhere near as good as the original, it is an entertaining entry in the series. One of my favorite aspects is how original the plot line is compared to the original film. Its pretty gutsy to make a sequel not at all like the original and while some people fault it for that, the movie at least tries to do something different. It also has some pretty good scares as well, if you're looking for a more intense adventure 65 million years in the making. While it isn't the best of follow-ups ever made, it definitely isn't the worst and at least we get to see more of Jeff Goldlum and dinosaurs.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
