The following list is an embodiment of values that I believe represents the best and most beneficial way to live. For me, this list is everything that I have learned and found useful to live by in my 21 years of life. This list has become my holy grail, my bible, my most prized possession of thoughts, my mantra. Lol I may be hyping it up too much, but really, these rules have really helped me look past the drawbacks and find the many positives there are in life.

Be Me

When I finally accepted myself and my weird quirks, that’s when I really started to live. As cliché as that sounds it's true. I stopped doing things I hated because it would “look good” and started doing things I actually enjoyed. I embraced my flaws and lived the life I actually wanted to live even if other people didn’t think it was the "best" way.

Be Kind

The greatest lesson that I have put into practice is to be kind. The world needs more kindness and when you are kind to others and yourself, your life will shift. By doing one nice thing for someone that wasn’t expecting your kindness, you can literally make their day. You have the power to raise someone up. They don’t have to be big acts either. Perform small acts of kindness and see the difference.

Be Weird

I use to get embarrassed about things I would say or do because people might think I’m “weird.” But ever since I’ve embraced my weird, awkward, quirky self I have had so much fun. It’s fun to be weird. So embrace your weirdness kids.

Just Take One Step in the Right Direction

Try to do one thing every day to put yourself in the direction you want to go whether that is career, health, or relationship-wise. Smalls steps add up.

Follow Your Curiosity

I hate the term follow your passion because not many people know what their passion is. So if you’re someone that doesn’t know their passion yet,try following your curiosity and your curiosity could often lead you to your passion. Or it could lead you to learn more about something you're interested in. Either way it’s a win-win situation

Music Can Pretty Much Fix Anything

Whenever I’m feeling down or stressed about something, I put my headphones on and instantly feel better. I strongly believe music can bring world peace. It's naive belief, but hey maybe it's not.

Stop Being Anti-___ and Be Pro-___

So you’re anti-war? Have you thought about becoming pro-peace instead? When we are anti-anything it’s only going to bring more of it. War on drugs = increased drugs. War on terrorism=increased acts of terrorism. Start a movement and take a side that is positive and will benefit everyone.

Write it Down

Whether it is your goals, plans, or a to-do list. Write it down. The power of pen and paper is an incredible tool to keep your thoughts straight. So use it.

Treat Yo'self

Take some time for yourself in your busy schedule, even if it’s just 5 minutes. It will keep you sane. So go on treat yo'self.

Have Fun

Life is short. Don't be too serious. Have fun with it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
