As the final weeks of school are approaching for many, we all are looking for somewhere to ‘get away.’ We Coloradoan’s are so lucky to live in such a beautiful state, with mountains around every corner. Don’t look for beaches to escape to, but rather look into some of the purple mountain majesties in the gorgeous state of Colorado.
Here are ten mountain towns in Colorado that each has something unique to offer.
1. Breckenridge, CO
Breckenridge may be known for its skiing in the winter, but during the summer, the ski resort offers an Alpine Slide. You’ll also want to check out the Breckenridge Distillery, they make some very unique liquor.
2. Crested Butte, CO
Take a walk down this busy and beautiful street called Elk Street in the heart of Crested Butte. There are lots of little town shops and great local cooking. Take a ride up the mountain and check out the mountain you see in the photo, and maybe take a hike.
3. Aspen, CO

4. Salida, CO
This is one of the most popular destinations in Colorado for river rafting and kayaking. If you have never been on a river raft, it is an experience you do not want to miss!
5. Glenwood Springs, CO

6. Manitou Springs, CO
Check out downtown Manitou Springs: lots of unique hometown shops and even a penny arcade. Don’t forget to take a trip up the famous Manitou Incline while you are there.
7. Gothic, CO

8. Estes Park, CO
As most know, Estes Park is home to the Stanley Hotel, which is said by many to be haunted. You can also visit the beautiful Rocky Mountain State Park.
9. Almont, CO
If you're one for fishing, this is the place for you. Hang out all day on the Taylor River and see what you can get on a line.
10. Ouray, CO
Explore ghost towns, check out where old westerns were filmed and discover old indian ruins. If you are ready to explore, this is the destination for you.
