11 Things College Students Actually Want For Christmas

A nice scarf and matching gloves are nice but it just might not cut it.

As you get older, it seems like the only thing that you want for Christmas is a four-day long nap (or would that officially be labeled as a hibernation) or just all the money I can happen to conjure up so I can float by the next couple of days, weeks, or months. But of course, that's not what you get for Christmas, or at least not to that extent. Sometimes you just have to sit there, hope a little bit, and hopefully, you'll get what you asked for or at least what you may need at the moment. So here are 11 things that college students want (or may even really need) this holiday season.

1. Just one uninterrupted and panic-free nap

It is one of those naps where when you wake up and don't know where you are, what day it is, or what you were even doing before falling asleep. It is one of those naps that is completely stress-free and one where you're aren't taking one to run away from your problems but just a nice refresher. I need one of those but I think mine would probably last a week long at a minimum.

2. A Barnes and Noble gift card so they can pay for these overly priced textbooks.

Or at least enough on the gift card so we rent some of them our or hey even purchased that really torn up copy that has every other sentence highlighted, because at least a book is better than no book!

3. A dog or maybe even 100 dogs

But please remember to adopt the dogs. You shouldn't buy dogs because that means you support puppy mills and THOSE ARE NOT COOL AT ALL.

4. Financial stability

Okay, this one is a pretty big one for anyone who might just need a better financial situation but I feel as though this is a big one for college students. I mean... take me, for example, I have literally 3 dollars to my name currently. LOL at my life, am I right?

5. Grocery and gas money

I mean hey, college kids have to eat and drive their cars too. And I mean you don't have to actually buy their groceries (if you did that would be pretty dope too) but maybe put them on your Sam's Club or Costco card, provide the money for said groceries, or send a gift card. Man those gift cards are really coming in handy. Those gift cards can help with gas too!!

6. Socks

I know I said getting a sh*t ton of scarves isn't always the best but socks are always okay. Socks seem to be the one thing that I don't have a lot of and I don't understand why because I love socks... no matter the kind. And college kids love socks.

7. A life... of any kind really without your grades or sleep schedule suffering

This might look like a joke but its real... very, very real.

8. Less stress

I'd pay good money to be even a little bit less stressed during the school year. And I mean GOOD money.

9. Happiness

Or at least some variation of it, you know? I mean who doesn't want to be happy!? I mean you don't need to be happy 24/7 because that's just weird but you can be at least content with the life you know.

10. Something that shows us that we're on the right track

Honestly, another thing that I'd pay good money for. I mean who wouldn't? Nothing freaks me out more then not knowing for sure if everything is going to work out how I plan. But I guess that life or whatever.

11. FREE TUITION

I think I speak for anyone in undergrad and postgrad... THIS is what we really want. Forget everything else on the list. THIS is the gift we all need.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
