10 Cliche, Yet Fun Things To Do In Denver For Valentine's Day

Growing up in Westminster and now living in Boulder, I have been able to explore much of Denver and the surrounding cities. After living here my whole life, I feel like there really isn't much to do, but when I look back, there are really a lot of options of places to hangout. With Valentine's Day just around the corner, I have come up with 10 ideas for date night in Denver and Boulder that are cliche, but are a guaranteed good time.

1. Denver Art Museum

The Denver Art Museum is a blast and it is fun to see the local and classic artwork on display. If you are 18 and under you get free admission, but it is not too expensive for admission. There is currently a temporary exhibit that has the costumes from the Star Wars Saga that will not be in town much longer! So if you and bae are Star Wars tickets, snag some tickets for Valentine's Day!

2. The Aquarium in Denver

The Aquarium is a destination that all couples need to visit at some point. There is nothing more calming than looking at cool fish with the person you are dating. It is fun to be a little childish for a day. If you are feeling especially adventurous, you can hand feed the sting rays at the end of the exhibit.

3. Citizen and Turnover at the Marquis Theater

If you read my Pop Punk Starter Playlist, you know that I love punk music and that the shows are some of the best out there. On February 14th, Citizen and Turnover will be performing at the Marquis in Denver. If you both have similar music taste and want to score some amazing pizza, grab a ticket to this show.

4. Go on Yelp and find the best restaurant in Denver (or Boulder) that has your favorite food (i.e. Best Burger in Denver)

Valentine's Day is not supposed to be an average date night, so you and your partner should branch out of your comfort zone and use Yelp to find the best restaurants in the area. If you are craving milkshakes simply just look up "Best Milkshakes in Denver" and take a drive there. It spices things up and will make Valentine's Day one to remember.

5. Drive to Lookout Mountain and stargaze

Probably the most cliche suggestion on this list is to stargaze, but there is not anything more romantic than stargazing. Lookout is beautiful and an amazing bonding experience for any couple.

6. Explore The Hill, Pearl Street, or The 16th Street Mall

Most people in Boulder have been to these places at least once, but I am sure there is something that you have overlooked. Try out the little Greek place on The Hill, explore a local store on Pearl Street, or check out a new restaurant on the 16th Street Mall. Mixing it up a little bit is the key to a fun V-Day.

7. Hike Chautauqua

This is of course weather permitting, but if you two have the day off, take a hike up to the iconic flatirons and enjoy the views together while getting in a good workout.

8. Book tickets to a comedy show

Couples who laugh together, stay together. Find tickets to a local comedy show and spend the night laughing and enjoying your time together. I recommend Mad Cap Theater in Westminster for a family friendly improv show.

9. Cook a nice dinner together at home

Neither of you may be great cooks, but it is always fun to work together to make a dish you have never tried. It may be a fail or something absolutely delicious, but the point is to enjoy the time together and build your bond as a couple.

10. Binge watch a few episodes on Netflix and order takeout

For all of the lazy couples out there, this may be the winner. This is a cheap date and an easy one to accomplish. Set aside all of your responsibilities for the night, pick up a heart shaped pizza from Papa Murphy's, and lay on the couch and watch as much Netflix as you want.

Valentine's Day is meant to be a fun day to express your love for each other so don't stress too much about having a fancy, elaborate night. Just enjoy each others company and you will have an amazing day!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
