1. Water is your best friend, and so is gum.
You're going to be talking to so many girls in one day. It's probably going to ruin your voice and the best way to avoid that is water. Gum is also important, no one likes bad breath.
2. Looks do matter.
They do not matter in the sense of prettiness or"hotness; what I'm saying is look put together. Think of it as a job interview. Would you show up to an interview wearing sweatpants?
3. Learn how to walk in heels.
Heels are cute but so are sandals, and no one that wants to be that girl who's stumbling from one recruitment round to the next. Plus, you'll be standing for long periods of time so your feet will thank you later.
4. Don't talk to us about fraternities.
Fraternities are an amazing part of the Greek system, however, it's just one of those weird rules where we can't discuss it during recruitment. Just don't bring it up or it can get awkward.
5. Don't be quiet.
Like, actually, talk loud; there will be more than 100 girls talking simultaneously in a small room, and we want to know what you're saying. That being said, it is totally normal to ask us to repeat what we said if you can't hear us. We don't mind it; in fact, it shows us you care.
6. Wear deodorant.
Like I mentioned earlier, there will be more than 100 girls in a small room. It's going to be hot and you are going to sweat, so just be prepared for that.
7. We don't care how much alcohol you can tolerate.
College is the time to experiment and explore, but discussing alcohol during recruitment, and how much you can handle, is not the time nor the place. If anything, it just makes you look trashy.
8. Be different and stand out.
Don't start off a conversation telling me about your major. Be spontaneous and fun, it will make you stand out and you'll definitely make a great first impression.
9. Keep an open mind.
Keeping an open mind makes the already stressful recruitment process a lot easier. Don't go in biased and I promise you that everything will work out for the best.
10. Be yourself.
I cannot stress this enough. Be yourself and do not try to be someone you're not. Each sorority is different however, they all have one common value; finding sisters who are true to themselves. How can we expect you to be a lifelong sister who is honest and genuine when you're trying to put up a front during a recruitment round?
