Whether it's because it's raining or you're overwhelmed by something in your life, we all feel down sometimes. Days can be blue and clear, a glimmering, radiant happiness washing over us one minute, then the next moment gray clouds can start to appear on the horizon. Sometimes there's even a freak storm out of nowhere. It isn't anyone's fault; we just don't have the greatest day. It's ok! The following are some things that you can do that might turn the frown upside down!
1. Watch funny videos on YouTube.
YouTube has just about everything when it comes to viral videos. Whether it's a compilation of funny cat videos or your favorite YouTuber going on a rant, take some time to yourself and watch what makes you smile!
2. Experiment with DIYs.
There are all sorts of crafts out there, whether it be on Pinterest, Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. From glittery slime to bubbling bath bombs- there are so many options to what you can make! A good DIY day can be therapeutic and when you're done with your project you might even gain a sense of accomplishment.
3. Put together a playlist.
Music can be a great way to unwind, or to start a spontaneous dance party! Having a playlist ready for those days when you're not feeling the greatest can be a real help. Whether it's smooth jazz or the latest Bruno Mars Album, put together a list of songs that really lift you up. Then if there's time, maybe have that spontaneous dance party.
4. Take a nap.
Sometimes the best feeling is coming home from a hard day of work or school and just taking some time to sleep. It is important for your health that you get enough and when you wake up you'll feel refreshed and ready to take on the rest of your tasks.
5. Do something nice for someone.
Whether it's something little like a compliment, holding the door for someone or something bigger like taking a good friend out to dinner or volunteering somewhere. Doing something nice for someone else can be a great way to boost your mood. After all, making a difference in even one person's day can be enough to put a smile on their face, and yours!
6. Start a New Book.
Need to reset? Or just escape to another world? Books can transport you into any world you like. Pick a genre you already like or go for something completely new, and let the story take you on an adventure. Reading can be a great distraction, inspiration, and journey that leaves you feeling accomplished or craving more.
7. Get your stream on.
There are so many shows and movies on Netflix (or Hulu if you prefer). So grab your favorite snack and your fuzzy blanket, and just kick back, relax, and let yourself get lost in one of them.
8. Bake something!
What better way to cheer yourself up than baking yourself a snack? Or maybe something new like those rainbow chocolate chip cookies you saw on Facebook? Baking can be a great way to unwind and the products are positively scrumptious!
9. Go for a walk.
Whether it's just down the street or a hike at your local state park, getting outside and getting fresh air can refresh your mind. So take some time to stop, smell the roses and admire the sunshine.
10. Pick up a new challenge.
It could be learning piano or training for a 5k. Whatever it is, finding something new that challenges you physically or intellectually might improve your mood, and who knows? You might surprise yourself!
