Reading seems like a hassle if it isn't mandatory for a class, but the thing is, it doesn't have to be. Reading books is healthy for your mind and is a great way to relax. Reading books you enjoy can really make a difference. Here're a few books I have loved reading that I think you should read as well:
1. A Street Cat Named Bob
This book is sweet and funny on the outside but has deep messaging of hope and how a friendship can literally change your life.
2. Crank
Based on a true story, this book portrays the powerful message that the drug world can victimize anyone and shows the struggles of an ordinary young girl who gets caught up in a too adult world.
3. A Child Called It
Another one based on a true story. This beautifully written story, written by the child himself, shows the horrors of child abuse through the eyes of a child.
4. The Hunger Games
This entire series is great, but the message of the book is powerful. It takes you on a journey with a young girl living in a futuristic society of war children.
5. To Kill a Mockingbird
Forever a classic, this one tells of the sad world of racism that used to be a reality for far too many. This book shows you to stand up for what you know is right, even if you stand alone.
6. A Series of Unfortunate Events
Although it's a book series aimed at younger kids, all ages can enjoy the story of three orphaned children and their fight for a happy life once again.
7. Among the Hidden
Another set in a futuristic world. In a world where families can only have two children, where would the accident children hide?
8. Chicken Soup for the ... Soul
Chicken Soup for the Soul books collect true stories told by real people and can be told about children, animals, teens and everyone else. They lift spirits better than a can of soup ever would.
9. Charlie St. Cloud
A story of hope, family, love, and letting go that follows a brother who must come to terms with the loss of his baby brother, but can't seem to move on.
10. Number the Stars
A beautiful but solemn take told about a little Jewish girl during the Holocaust and how the power of friendship can literally save lives.
