Lately the news has been filled with tragedy and sorrow; third world countries are being attacked and ridiculed for being themselves, the LGBTQ+ community has faced more hatred, and the American political system has reached an all time low (in my opinion). Although I am not the most religious person, I can find comfort and solace in the words of God. By sharing some of the verses that resonate within me, I hope that those of you reading can find the same peace I have.
For hard times:
1. Psalm 143:8 "Let the morning bring me the word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you."
2. 2 Corinthians 1:10 "He delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will deliver us again."
3. Colossians 1:13 "He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son."
To find hope:
4. 1 Corinthians 15:19 "If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied."
5. Romans 15:4 "For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope."
To find strength and courage:
6. Deuteronomy 31:6 "Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”
7. Psalm 23:4 "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."
8. 2 Timothy 1:7 "For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control."
To overcome fear:
9. Isaiah 41:10 "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
10. Isaiah 35:4 "Say to those with fearful hearts, 'be strong, do not fear, your God will come, he will come with a vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you.'"
