Now that Thanksgiving is almost here, it is time to prepare ourselves for the most wonderful time of the year after devouring all that turkey. What better way to celebrate this holiday than taking a trip to the city? In the city that never sleeps, there are unlimited exciting things that you can do for the month of December to get you ready for the holidays. Your holiday would not be complete without taking a trip here with your friends and family. Here are ten things that you can do in the Big Apple:

1. Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree

It wouldn’t be Christmas without getting to see the giant Christmas tree at least once this year. This year the tree was cut down from Oneonta, New York. It is the second largest Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center at 94 feet tall. Take lots of pictures with your family and friends as you see this amazing tree.

2. Winter in Bryant Park

This is always one of my favorite places to go to in the winter time. At this park there are 125 holiday kiosk shops where you can buy all kinds of jewelry, winter accessories and treats. You can get started on some shopping for your friends and family or treat yourself. There is an ice rink that is also located here where you can either show your graceful moves as you ice skate or fall all over the place like most people.

3. The Gigantic Christmas Decorations

These Christmas decorations are always great to see to get you in the holiday spirit. Take lots of pictures with these giant lights and huge Christmas ornaments!

4. Radio City Music Hall Rockettes

I have probable seen this show over 10 times, but it never gets old. This is a great show to go to with your friends or family that will really get you into the holiday mood. My favorite parts are the one with the little girl’s dream that her Christmas presents come to life and the Rockettes performance of the toy soldiers.

5. Saint Patrick’s Cathedral

This is a beautiful cathedral that you definitely do not want to miss seeing. This historical church is the oldest building in Manhattan. It is absolutely stunning, inside and out. Take a moment to light a candle or say a prayer for any one going through tough times or to just be thankful for all that you have.

6. Grand Central Holiday Fair

If you want to stay out of the cold yet still get in the holiday spirit, make sure you visit the Grand Central Holiday Fair. Shop for accessories, toys and artwork at this holiday fair while exploring the Grand Central Terminal.

7. Ugly Sweater Pub Crawl

Got an ugly sweater that you are dying to show off? Grab your friends and go to this pub crawl on December 3rd. Enjoy the drink specials as you bar hop around the city. It begins at Bar None.

8. Santa Bar Crawl

Don’t have an ugly sweater but somehow have a Santa suit in your closet? Make sure that you check out the Santa bar crawl for SantaCon 2016. This event occurs on December 10th at 10 am, for information check out their website at http://santacon.nyc/.

9. Street Music Festival

Enjoy a street parade on December 21st at this free event. Hear the live music that is guaranteed to get you in the holiday spirit!

10. Saks Fifth Avenue Holiday Windows

Every year, people line up to see these windows with amazing winter scenes. My favorite one was when they did a theme on the Disney princesses in a classic and old-fashioned style.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
