10 Best Things About The Fall Season

We all saw it coming once classes started, and some of us even sat waiting in front of our calendars for September to roll around. From the pumpkin spice lattes to the cozy sweaters, autumn has become the favorite season for many of us. What’s not to love? You can try to argue that autumn isn’t the best season, but I’m sure you’ll change your mind after you read these 10 best things about fall.

1. Leggings and Crewnecks

That might not sound like much, but you’ll be thanking Mother Nature come October when you can leave the house in leggings and a crewneck and be completely comfortable, not sweating your you-know-what off and praying for cool weather.

2. Pumpkin Spice Lattes

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, pumpkin spice lattes might be “basic,” but in that case, I’m okay with being basic. You can’t say you don’t love the taste of fall. And, in my opinion, there is nothing wrong with being basic when it means being comfortable and eating delicious foods.

3. Football

Whether it is Sunday night football parties or tailgating on Saturday, everyone goes crazy over fall because of the love of the game. With the school spirit, team pride, food, and booze, football season is hard not to look forward to.

4. Halloween

You’re a different person Thursday night, Friday night, and Saturday night. From Brittany Spears one night to a Beanie Baby the next, you can be whoever and whatever you want in the weekend leading up to Halloween. Finally, you don’t have to dream of being Blake Lively, because you can be her one of those three nights, or, if you really want, all three of those nights.

5. Leaves Changing Color

The most beautiful part of fall—the leaves changing from green, to red, to yellow, making drives more scenic, runs more enjoyable, and pictures prettier. No matter what age you are, the changing color of leaves is the best thing about autumn.

6. Caramel Apples

From peanuts to sprinkles, or even just plain, caramel apples are destined to be eaten during the fall season. No one judges you by what topping you have or how much you eat of the caramel-coated apple, because we all love the sticky, juicy, and delicious taste of caramel apples.

7. Oversize Sweaters

I don’t know about you, but I know that I have been looking forward to this day since the summer heat hit its peak. There is no better feeling than throwing your hair in a bun and slouching in an oversize, comfy sweater. I thank the cycle of styles for bringing back oversize clothes so that I still feel fashionable when I actually just want to feel comfortable because I’m in a lazy mood.

8. Steaming, Delicious Soup

Whether it’s fresh, homemade soup or straight from a can, having soup on a brisk day completes the autumn feel (especially while lounging in an oversize sweater).

9. Pie, Pie, and more Pie

Right out of the oven, apple pie topped with a scoop of ice cream and drizzled with caramel sauce. Seriously, what is better than a fresh-baked pie? Forget the calories and eat more than one piece of pie, it never tastes as good as it does in the fall.

10. Thanksgiving

Spending the day with your family, eating until you’re as stuffed as the turkey on the table, and hearing stories about your parents when they were young. How can you not look forward to Thanksgiving? Give thanks and be happy, because fall is the best season of the year!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
