The University of North Alabama chapter of Zeta recently celebrated their Bid Day.
"(On Bid Day) Our theme was 'The Greatest Sorority on Earth,' carnival themed. We went to my house on the lake to eat and swim in the pool. We played ice breakers and get to know you games to meet the new members. It was a wonderful day that everyone enjoyed," says Recruitment Chair for Zeta, Kate Cochran.
When asked what her house stands for, Cochran stated, "Zeta Tau Alpha stands for 'Seeking the Noblest'. In everything we do we make sure to look for the best. Seeking the noblest is a motto that each girl takes personally so that they strive to reach their full potential."
The veteran sisters of Zeta greeted this past recruitment with high expectations, which were greatly exceeded. This past recruitment went extremely well according to Cochran.
"Our expectations for recruitment were definitely exceeded! We were all so excited about the new members that we got! We have over 125 members in Zeta Tau Alpha and we did not think that could be possible! Each new member has the qualities and characteristics that make them a 'Zeta Lady.'"
These girls have much more to offer than just a bunch of pretty faces! Let's take a look at the goals the ladies of Zeta Tau Alpha have for this year.
"This year we really want to focus on raising more money for our philanthropy, Breast Cancer Education and Awareness. In the past two years we have raised over $25,000. Continuing to have a strong sisterhood is something that we are working on. In ZTA, we have one of the strongest sisterhoods I have ever seen, and we plan to keep it that way. Each Wednesday we do a different activity together, and soon new members will receive a big that will make them love Zeta even more. We are planning a lot of new things for the next year that I think everyone on campus will be excited about," says Kate Cochran. She asks me to remind all UNA students that Pink Week is the first week of October and that Zeta's Pink Party will take place in downtown Florence on November 6.
Cochran had a few pearls of wisdom for her new sorority sisters as well as those who will be going through recruitment next year.
"What you put into Zeta will be what you get out of it! I encourage all of our new members to get involved in everything that they can. Step Show, Executive Council, Step Sing and intramural will keep you active in ZTA. Your four years in ZTA will go by so fast. I can’t believe that I am starting my 3rd year. Spend as much time with your sisters as possible, and show everyone what being a ZTA is all about! To the girls going through recruitment next year: all four sororities at UNA are amazing, but they all have different traits that make them their own. Think about each sorority's philanthropy, and the values that they are based off of."
Good luck to you in all your future endeavors, Zeta!
