This week, Total Frat Move released an article ranking the "Hottest Sororities in America." Coming in at #1 was Zeta Tau Alpha. My newsfeed flooded with sisters sharing the article and bragging about how Zeta was on top. I can't lie, for a few minutes I really wanted to share it, but then I realized that having attractive members is probably the last thing about Zeta that I am proud of. I really don't want any PNMs, family, or friends to see that article and think that's what it means to be in Zeta - because it's not. There is a whole lot more to Zeta than our beautiful sisters.
Think Pink ®
This is Zeta's national trademark to cover our philanthropy - Breast Cancer Education and Awareness. Between our current partnerships with The American Cancer Society ® , the NFL, and Bright Pink ®, and the past partnerships Zeta has raised tons of money for this important cause that effects 1 in 8 women in the US. We are lucky enough to have a whole month dedicated to our philanthropy, which gives us plenty of time to plan amazing fundraisers. Plus, nothing beats the feeling of seeing sports games covered in pink and millions of people wearing little ribbons for breast cancer awareness.
Seek the Noblest
Sisters of Zeta are always seeking the noblest - but this is more than just looking for noble, honest, and good-hearted women during recruitment. Our motto carries over into life as an initiated sister, too. Seeking nobility in ourselves is just as important as looking for it in PNMs. Zeta strives for all members to be the best version of ourselves that we can be in every way: academics, sisterhood, careers, just everything in our daily lives. In Zeta, you aren't just accountable for yourself, you're accountable for all your sisters, because you're always wearing the crown.
Sisterhood
It's no secret that in every sorority, sisterhood is a huge deal. I mean, that's a major point of joining right? In Zeta, I can honestly say that I have learned a whole new meaning to sisterhood. This doesn't mean being best friends with everyone, but this does mean remembering that you are everyone's sister. Whether you have a daily relationship with a sister or have only talked a few times, when someone is in need of anything, you are there for her. Sisterhood is accepting each other, being there for each other, supporting each other, working together, and unconditionally loving each other, because you all are a part of something so much bigger than yourself.
"To See Beauty With Its Enriching Influence."
In our creed, we learn to look beyond the surface of life. It's so easy to look at the same thing every day and never find the beauty in it or never go looking for the beauty out in the world. Zeta challenges it's members to chase after the beautiful things in life and take in the influence.
Zeta's Alumnae
With over 230,000 initiated sisters nationwide, it's expected that we have had some sisters leave major marks on the world. Whether it's Erin Andrews, hosting college football on Fox Sports, or Tanya Snyder, helping to create the partnership between ZTA and the NFL, we are all proud. Zeta Tau Alpha has alumnae that went on to become Miss America, news anchors, authors, actresses, and even the United States Marine Corps' first Women General.
At the end of the day, I could probably go on forever with the smallest things that make me proud to be a sister of Zeta Tau Alpha. Being recognized as an organization of attractive women is great, but not what makes me proud of Zeta. Every sorority is filled with gorgeous girls, but no other sorority is made up of all this.
