Ever have that best friend who loves and supports you and your decisions no matter what? Me too: my dad! You are the first person who laid eyes on me and realized your life changed for the better. Unknowingly, you were the first person I laid eyes on too; with that, we share a special bond that nobody else has. My life changed in that moment for the better too; I gained a lifetime best friend, inspiration, and support system.
Being a father of a daughter is much more sentimental than a son. You immediately have more protection instincts (especially when it comes to boys), learn how to play with dolls or have a tea party the correct way, learn how to shop for girls' clothing and pick out the color that looks best on your daughter, and, most importantly, learn how to braid hair (the hardest thing for you to learn)! With a son, you are able to play with him the way you grew up playing: rough. Having a daughter forces you to change your way of thinking and acting, for the better. Thank you, Dad, for slowly learning everything you need to know to be a father of a daughter. I truly believe that those small interactions have brought us closer and guided us to becoming best friends.
Throughout the years as we both age, we have had our best moments. In school, if I ever need help or advice, you are the first one to answer my text or call (sorry, principal, for using my phone, but my dad is more important). However, my biggest thank you is for being there for me throughout my first heartbreak and knowing that you will be there for every single one in the future (hopefully there aren't too many)! I came to you crying and lost, but you guided me back to who I am. You're always the one who will hold me close and give me a shoulder to cry on. You were my biggest supporter during that extremely hard time of my life. As a dad, I know you will never fully trust another guy in my life because I am your little girl and you never want to see me hurt. With that being said, you still will allow me to learn from different guys to teach me a lesson: I deserve the absolute best. You are the only man in my life that I will ever need, Dad. I love you.
Let me tell you something about my dad: He is the most hardworking guy around. You can always find him on his computer or phone working because it is his responsibility. For being that responsible, hardworking, and dedicated to your commitments, you are my inspiration. I hope to be just as responsible, hardworking, and dedicated to my commitments as you are. My dad is also goofy and bubbly. By having that fun attitude, we are able to have fun together, not only as father and daughter, but as best friends.
Thank you Dad for absolutely everything you have ever done for me and will do for me in the future. I can't wait for more special moments shared in the future, especially you walking me down the aisle: the best moment of all. I hope you approve of the guy I will marry and trust him a little more than the others!
