The expression, “You’re my person,” has been frequently used in society. What does it mean to be someone’s “person?” When someone has a person, this means they are your go-to, best friend, and you and this person are on the highest level of closeness you can achieve as being friends. I have multiple “persons.” For example, my parents and some of my closest friends are my “people.” These people know me better than I know myself. They are my best friends and keep me sane every day.
1. Thank you for accepting me for me.
If you are my person, thank you for accepting me for who I truly am. Thank you for accepting my flaws and mistakes I’ve made in the past. Even when things got hard for me, you stuck around and continued to be there for me. You were there when I needed it most. You even stuck around after the many arguments and fights we have gotten in. Thank you for staying when most would leave.
2. I would not be the person I am today without you.
I would not obtain the strength I have today without the help from you. I am strong because for all the times I have fallen, you were there to pick me up. Through the heartbreaks, anxiousness, stress and injuries, you were there and knew just what to say to make it better. When I am having a bad day, I know you will always be just a call or text away.
3. Not only do I think you are amazing, but so does everyone else.
Whenever I think of you, I can't help but think of how blessed I am to have someone like you in my life. You are not only an amazing individual by how I perceive you, but by others, too. You are not only a magnificent friend, but human being, too. You are selfless. You would go to the end of the earth for the ones you love, including me. This is why I admire you so much.
4. I am forever grateful for you.
If I could count on one hand what I am most thankful for, my people would be one of them. When I lay down at night, I thank God for placing you in my life. Sometimes, I wonder how I became so lucky to have such incredible people in my life who would do just about anything for me. Not many people have the privilege in saying that, but I do. Please know that although we may fight at times, I will never take you or our relationship for granted.
5. You have changed my life forever.
This goes along with “I would not be the person I am today without you.” However, I want you to know that you have changed my life eternally with me only being 19 years old. How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard? Although I am away at college now, you will forever have imprinted your mark on my heart. You have changed my life for the absolute good.
These were a few things I want my people to know. These people are the most amazing people I have received the privilege of knowing and being raised by. I felt these few things listed needed to be expressed. To my people, you know who you are.
